Welcome to the Anime Resouces thread. In this thread, you will find guides and information that can help you with different aspects of the Anime.

One of the best resources available for information is Bulbapedia, which provides data on characters, episodes, movies, music etc within the Anime.

For 30 second episode previews that air after episodes, the TV Tokyo youtube channel hosts them.

filb is a great resource for high quality images from episodes, including recently aired episodes. They also provide 30 second episode previews.

Guidelines for reliable sources.

There's been some confusion in the past as to what exactly a reliable source is when figuring out if a new episode title or news is legit or not. Here are some helpful tips to assist you.

Scans

Often, scans of magazines will reveal titles to us. Often, these are posted online as cell phone pictures.

These are two examples of common scans that reveal episode titles. If you come across these, feel free to make a post anouncing new titles.

TV Tokyo's preview page - あにてれ：ポケットモンスター ベストウイッシュ

This page will update with a picture and summary of the next episode, and occasional posts something on a few upcoming episodes.

Pokemon.co.jp Best Wishes! page - テレビアニメ | ポケットモンスターオフィシャルサイト

This page usually just lists the next episode airing, but it may have new information in its summary or a new picture.

All four have proven to be reliable sources in the past. If you see a thread started by any of them where they posts titles and/or summaries, feel free to post them over here.

Images on dotup.org expire after a short amount of time. To prevent losing these scans, it's recommended that you upload these to a photo-sharing site, like Imgur or Photobucket. You can also find important scans on Bubagarden Archives.

TV Tokyo Episode Summary Guide

10 days before an episode premieres in Japan, an episode summary page goes up. Usually, this is just a placeholder page and not the actual summary. The actual summary usually appears about a week before the episode airs. But just where does everyone find these pages? Here's a helpful guide.

The above is a link to a summary page. To understand how to get the page for the next upcoming episode, we need to breakdown the url.

This is the base for all Best Wishes episodes. Every url for an episode summary will have this. The rest of the url is what needs to be changed each week.

Note the bolded part of the url. If you look carefully, you'll see that this is the date of the episode. In this case, it's April 14th, 2011. The 1900 stands for the time the episode airs. To access the page for the next episode, just change the date. So if I wanted to find the page for the episode after this, I'd just change 14 to 21. Or if the next episode was in May, I'd change the 04 to a 05, etc. Here's an example for a hypothetical episode next year.

Assuming an episode airs on February 29th, 2053, that would be the address used to access that episode.

So basically, just change the date at the end, and you can see the episode summary page as soon as it goes up. Just remember that the page only goes up 10 days in advance, with the actual summary going up roughly 7 days in advance.

This is what a summary page will usually look like when it first goes up. Note how there is already cast list. The main character cast list is always automatically put up with the page. However, this does not guarantee that all of the characters (namely, the Rockets) will be in the episode.

Sometime during the week you may notice that the summary page now looks like this. This usually means the page will be updated within a day, but this is not necessarily always the case.

How to recognise fake Anime titles

If someone links to a source when posting about new anime titles, it could be pretty easy to see if it's legit depending on the situation. All you need to do is learn a little bit of Japanese.

The Pokémon anime titles always have a character, location name or some form of English in them and so fake titles often mention a Pokémon or character to appear legitimate. If a title doesn’t have either of these then it’s almost certainly fake.

With the above criteria this also means that a legitimate title will have katakana in it.

An example situation:

1) Someone posts a new title "Cool Battle! Swoobat is the Best Pokémon!!" (クールなバトル！最強のポケモンはココロモリ！！) and links to a Japanese site as a source.
2) Go to Bulbapedia and see what Swoobat's name is in Japanese, in this case ココロモリ.
3) In this case, if you've already learned katakana you'll recognize "Battle" as バトル , which is often used in titles.
4) Go to the Japanese site and see a scan/article/whatever that has バトル and ココロモリ in it, so it should be real, unless the scan itself is fake.

Real titles are also posted on forums quickly after discovery. If someone posts a new title, the odds are that their source was revealed/uploaded on the same day. So if there's a link to a Twitter account (like karubiimono) that hasn't been updated for a day or two and the title was posted today then the title is likely to be fake.

On a similar note, the date of a title being posted can also be an indicator of whether it is fake or not. For Newtype, titles usually get posted on the 8th of every month, and less commonly on the 6th or 7th while a second batch gets posted on the 18th or 19th. If you see a title posted on 2ch or another site outside of the specified dates, it is likely to be fake unless solid proof or a source is also posted.
