The Pokémon Company International and Play! Pokémon have announced the base structure for the 2023 Pokémon Championship Series, together with a schedule for a range of upcoming events. The 2023 Play! Pokémon season, leading to the 2023 Pokémon World Championships, will include four different Pokémon game categories: the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE.

For the 2023 season, Regional Championships and International Championships will be hosted across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Oceania. Travel Awards will also continue to be available for these events.

We'll continue to provide further updates on the 2023 Pokémon Championship Series as more information is released.

Series Structure
As usual, the age divisions for players in the 2023 season will increase by one year from the 2022 season:
  • Junior Division: Born in 2011 or later
  • Senior Division: Born in 2007, 2008, 2009, or 2010
  • Masters Division: Born in 2006 or earlier
2023 Pokémon TCG Championship Series
The structure of the Pokémon TCG Championship Series will be mostly unchanged from the 2022 season, and most Championship Series events, including all Regional and International Championships, will use the Standard format. All local Championship Point tournaments will remain suspended until further notice.

2023 Pokémon Video Game Championship (VGC) Series
The structure of the 2023 VGC circuit is being reevaluated due to the impending release of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Consequently, there will be no Video Game Championship Series events until January 2023. The 2023 season will be played on Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. More information on the structure of this series will be released later in 2022.

2023 Pokémon GO Championship Series
The Pokémon GO Championship Series had its debut season in 2022, and will continue to expand in 2023, with additional events to be held alongside both TCG and VGC events. In a change from the 2022 season, all players will now compete together in a single age division.

2023 Pokémon UNITE Championship Series
Pokémon UNITE will also be returning to the Pokémon Championship Series in 2023. At this stage, no information has been released regarding the specific structure of the competition, or any changes that might be made from the 2022 debut season.
