Once upon a time, in a land far away, there lived a nameless monster.

The monster was dying to have a name.

So the monster made up his mind, and set out on a journey to look for one.

But the world was such a very large place.

The monster split in two, and went on separate journeys.

One went east.

The other headed west.

The one who went east came upon a village.

There was a blacksmith who lived at the village's entrance.

"Mr. Blacksmith, please give me your name!" said the monster.

"I can't give you my name!" replied the blacksmith.

'If you give me your name, I'll go inside you and make you strong," said the monster.

"Really?" said the blacksmith, "If you make me stronger, I'll give you my name."

The monster went into the blacksmith.

And so, the monster became Otto the blacksmith.

Otto was the strongest man in town.

But then one day he said, "Look at me! Look at me! The monster inside of me is getting bigger!"

Munch munch, chomp chomp, gobble gobble, gulp.

The hungry monster ate up Otto from the inside out.

Once again, he was a monster without a name.

Next, he went into Hans the shoemaker.

However...

Munch munch, chomp chomp, gobble gobble, gulp.

Once again, he went back to being a monster without a name.

Then, he became Thomas the hunter.

But soon...

Munch munch, chomp chomp, gobble gobble, gulp.

Back he went to being a monster without a name.

The monster next went to a castle to look for a nice name.

He came upon a very sick boy who lived in that castle.

"If you give me your name, I'll make you strong," said the monster.

The boy replied, "If you can make me healthy and strong, I will give you my name!"

So the monster jumped right into the boy.

And the boy became full of vigor.

The king was overjoyed.

He announced, "The prince is healthy! The prince is strong!"

The monster became quite fond of the boy's name.

He was also quite pleased with his royal life in the castle.

So he controlled himself no matter how ravenous his appetite became.

Day after day, despite his growing hunger, the monster stayed put inside the boy.

But finally, the hunger just became too great...

"Look at me! Look at me!" said the boy, "The monster inside of me has gotten this big!"

The boy devoured the king and all his servants.

Munch munch, chomp chomp, gobble gobble, gulp.

The castle was lonely now with everyone gone, so the boy left on a journey.

He walked and walked for days.

And then one day, the boy came upon the monster who had gone west.

"I have a name!" said the boy, "And it's such a wonderful one at that!"

But the monster who went west replied, "Who needs a name? I'm perfectly happy without one. After all, that's what we are - nameless monsters."

The boy ate up the monster who went west.

At last he had found a name, but there was no longer anyone to call him by it.

Such a shame, because Johan was such a wonderful name.

Congrats to all the winners, and thanks to my teammates for staying loyal to each other. I'm sorry I left you guys N1, but at least one of us won. Thanks @Elieson for hosting.

gg everyone

never trust makaze ;)

Ah I was so close to finally being able to say it

Good game everyone! Thanks to my alliance members and flashranite for the store setup, and @Elieson for having the patience to host these messes of a game haha

Congrats to all the winners! Glad we had at least one winner from our alliance too, congrats Flashranite!

Even if I still can't get a win after the third try, I definitely had a blast and enjoyed helping work the kill store. Probably should've worked on some more no-kill agreements or something, but oh well, it's a learning experience. Thanks for hosting, Elieson!!

Norman Blaze Haywood Ukeddleme Liberty Soul Edge Geoff Haku Pikochu Spaghetti has somehow both managed to win, and provide me with the plan to remain introspective and to build in loopholes for next game allowing alias owners to win next time if their alias makes it to the finals in one piece.
What does this mean???
@WolfOwl

You were right. I finally encountered a world where I had to pick. I chose betrayal instead of idling, for max hilarity.
:p

gg everyone

never trust makaze ;)
I figured that out N1 :p
Can't trust anybody these days...
When can you trust anyone in mafia?

Congrats to the winners!

I wish I could have done better but I kind of stopped caring much because I was away and didn't have sheet access working from my phone. But it was fun and interesting.

@Elieson thanks for hosting!

[12/30/2016 8:48:50 PM] Mitsuki: give me the alias list and I will tell you who to shoot
[12/30/2016 8:48:54 PM] Mitsuki: 10/10 strategy
[12/30/2016 8:51:22 PM] Blitz: Sounds good!
[12/30/2016 8:51:44 PM] Lord Gaius: let me get it
[link]
[12/30/2016 8:52:12 PM] Blitz: The link though
[12/30/2016 8:52:43 PM] Lord Gaius: [alias list]
[12/30/2016 8:53:13 PM] Mitsuki: I kind of want to shoot them all
[12/30/2016 8:53:14 PM] Mitsuki: rip
[12/30/2016 8:56:05 PM] Lord Gaius: three best shots??
[12/30/2016 8:56:47 PM] Mitsuki: Chuck D, Pikochu and Spaghetti
[12/30/2016 8:57:09 PM] Mitsuki: specially Spaghetti because it may be an Undertale reference
[12/30/2016 8:57:28 PM] Mitsuki: (also because that was SB's alias once and I shot him with that logic)

NAILED IT

Kind of surprised that the 3 most evil people won, not surprised that Paperblade did though. I think most of you guys are too nice for a game like this lol

GG everyone. Thanks to Blitz and Maka for the fun alliance. It was everything I was hoping to get from clover. OP roles aside, we did good and nobody really predicted the three of us (exception is HD who guessed me and Maka).

Shoutouts to the new players I got to talk to.

@Max1996 and @Elementar you two were great and we had a pretty solid alliance. Ele, I knew I was hijacking a shot off of you N1 but I never expected you to still die. That third shot from leetic was as unpredictable as he is. Also I totally kept calling you Ele cause it was easy to remember and we didn't confuse it with elie.

@WolfOwl i had the most fun talking to you! First, I want to apologize. When I said LG was a good source of info and very reliable, I was telling you the biggest lie of the game. But since I was allied with Maka and HD and trusted them already, I kept the lie going and even tried to trick you into protecting makazes alias, spaghetti, since N1. I suggest next time you be a little more careful about who you trust and try not to be so free with your targets that you plan to kill them. Gives you less enemies. I hope you come back to play again, cause you were great and I'd like to have a game where irl doesn't slow you down!

Last but not least, @HumanDawn i still wish you could have won with us. That alt wincon would have been great, but it wasn't meant to be. Your death was the one I felt the worst about. </3.

Thanks for the game, Elie, was I less of a monster this time around? Lol.

Before:
[Today 4:51 PM] Blitz: I need to pack my stuff and leave work
Text me if phase ends
[Today 4:51 PM] Makaze: i have a confession
[Today 4:51 PM] Paperblade: Ur gay?
[Today 4:51 PM] Blitz: Yeah?
[Today 4:51 PM] Makaze: i lied
i have a bpv
[Today 4:51 PM] Paperblade: Lol
[Today 4:51 PM] Blitz: Damnit Makaze!
[Today 4:51 PM] Makaze: CAN'T STOP ME NOW
[Today 4:51 PM] Blitz: You have any idea on how worried I was!
[Today 4:51 PM] Makaze: lol
[Today 4:52 PM] Paperblade: And yet you almost got me killed over that shit
Jesus
[Today 4:52 PM] Makaze: what can I say
nothing, that was a dick move
sorry
[Today 4:53 PM] Paperblade: Sorry would be a start
[Today 4:53 PM] Blitz: So, everything went according to plan
Except Paperblade sending in a kill and BPV breaker
[Today 4:53 PM] Paperblade: Lewl
[Today 4:53 PM] Blitz: At least for shots mapping
[Today 4:53 PM] Paperblade: Strong plays

After:
[Today 6:30 PM] Paperblade: corpses = fucked
[Today 6:42 PM] Blitz: I don't think I have ego... and also, I thought you betrayed because Makaze claimed shot and lost BPv
That meant 2 shots on him, that didn't exist
Meaning your BPV breaker was the only option
[Today 6:48 PM] Makaze: i have a confession
i didn't have bpv
[Today 6:48 PM] Paperblade: lmao
[Today 6:48 PM] Zeonth: Smh.
I also have a confession.
[Today 6:48 PM] Paperblade: "im gay"
[Today 6:49 PM] Zeonth: I didn't eat all my vegetables for dinner.
[Today 6:49 PM] Blitz: I have a confession too, my kills could actually pierce commutes
[Today 6:49 PM] Paperblade: my commute was more of a self-bg than a commute, I could be hooked out of it

What does this mean???

Wellllllllllllllllll

It means I need to rethink my role conceptualization much much harder for the future...if I build this role again, every surviving-to-endgame alias will be declared a winner, meaning the player wins...or did they!?

@everyone Thank you for the support and patience with me!

I wish I had more logs from people like @leetic and @Slife though.

@WolfOwl and @Makaze easily had the most entertaining Logs. Went from 0-90 kmp/h in 3 messages

No. I'm not giving out information so easily. Also make sure to add Elieson to this conversation

Wow, that's more brusque than I expected.

Done.

Perhaps you prefer action exchange. Did you read my deal?

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl

Was that the one about no killing?

Only four can win this game assuming one doesn't have a different wincon. I don't want to trust too easily.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze

I see.

Let me give some advice. Unless you already have other allies, you should make them sooner rather than later.

If you already have people you've promised your actions to, that's fine. Let me know and I'll be on my way.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 4, 2017 at 6:25 PM

And yes, it's the one about no killing. I keep my deals, even if it costs me the game.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 4, 2017 at 6:34 PM

I admire that kind of attitude. Honor is nice to see in mafia games. And yes I have been making allies I already know they're good to have.

Alright. One last thing then.

I am going to shoot among Blaze, Chuck D. and Joe. Any problems?

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 4, 2017 at 6:44 PM

I don't know any of those so go ahead!

And in exchange I'm shooting between hajime kindaichi, pikochu, and oberon. Any issues?

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze

Nope.

Thanks, that's all I needed. Let me know if you want my deal and are still alive!

I actually decided on someone else. There are certain users I fear and I don't think Piko is one of them.

Who are you shooting.

I want to kill someone. Anyone, really. Need another shot to do it.

Nope! But Oberon is the fairy ruler so it just seems fun to kill.

The last thing I remember is Dire Wolves.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 4, 2017 at 8:27 PM

I technically haven't finished the series. I have some epilogue book to finish.

In this game I'm not. Though my username and idea for the theme does come from the books. You should finish them. They're short and good. Though time never is very constant in them.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 4, 2017 at 8:33 PM

I don't think I finished Warriors either. I should be ashamed.

What is it then? Unless you think it could reveal role stuff.

------------------------------------------------

I never read warriors.

It could reveal role stuff.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze

Fair enough.

I'll see if I can get someone to shoot Oberon with you. Unless you don't need it (already dying) and my shot would be better spent elsewhere.

------------------------------------------------

I can't make any promises without an exchange. What will you give me?

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 7:23 AM

If you target hajime kindaichi tonight your shot will be wasted.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 7:24 AM

Why is that?

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 7:25 AM

An ability that blocks everything that hits the person as well as blocking their shot as well.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 7:30 AM

Ah, right.

Unfortunately, that's not worth enough since I'm not targeting them. I wouldn't have asked for that, so sorry you gave it up.

If it is you, you can just take my deal, and use your actions for me. If it is an ally, they can take it instead. Either way, those are the kinds of no shoots I offer (as I said in the thread).

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 7:31 AM

Out of curiosity, is it that they are being jailed by someone else, or is that their ability?

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:06 AM

Jailing.

And what do you consider to be worth enough?

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:08 AM

Having someone I want killed, or, depending on the powers you have to offer, using one of those on who I'd like.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:10 AM

Wow that's low.

That kind of pushes away your deal doesn't it.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:11 AM

No? My deal is that you use your role how I want one night, and you don't get shot by me or my allies that or any other night.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:12 AM

That's blackmail and threatening not a deal.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:13 AM

It can be interpreted that way. A logical consequence of me offering this deal is that anyone who doesn't take it, can be shot. If I offered no shoots to people who didn't help, too, I'd end up not shooting anyone night 1.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:14 AM

Threatening just puts you on everyone hit list.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:17 AM

Just being in the game is a threat. From a logical standpoint, if you aren't going to the end of the game with me, then you need to die at some point.

Imagine you are a doctor. You help someone who isn't me. I either have to kill you, or your allies, because that power is too good to let go to someone else. Most people would just tell you "alright" and shoot you anyway, knowing you won't work with them.

Instead of being a backstabber, I keep my deals. It might seem like I'm stabbing you in the front, but I'm being a lot nicer than the people who don't give you the chance.

My deals stay open as long as you're alive.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:22 AM

There is this more honorable thing called not even telling your enemies anything. Im not going to contact someone I plan on killing or be friendly with them. You instead just put on a friendly faces and then flipped. You're targeting my ally, asked for information as a reason not to, and I gave you some. And you continue threatening despite me giving much more information to you than you have given me. And the return is threats. You are backstabbing.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:26 AM

Since we do not have any deals, I am not going back on any word I have made.

As a rule, I shoot aliases I don't know the identity of. Haku is one of the few I can't find.

This is more honorable because if someone else did this, they would not offer the deal I am, and they would even tell you they weren't shooting Haku, but would lie about it.

This way, I am not lying to you. There is honor in honesty, even if it's not something you'd like.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:29 AM

There is no honor in what you're doing. I told you haku is my ally. I have one ally. But I won't tell you who they are because I'm not going to rat out my single ally.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:31 AM

Then why not take the deal? I didn't say I had to know who that was to not shoot them. I just need someone, you or them, to use their actions where I want, for one night (tonight).

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:37 AM

No.

We have reasons for our actions and we won't bow down to you.

Word of advice if your going to contact someone acting nice, don't pull what you just did with me. Saying who you ere planning between and asking if any of them were a problem I thought maybe later in the game I could trust you. But now I see you are nothing but the worst to trust.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:52 AM

Sigh. The fact is, I am dangerous if you aren't with me, but I am one of the few who keep their words when I make a promise.

There is a simple strategy I employ. Pick an unknown alias. Ask people if it is alright to shoot. If it's not, ask for more info. Whether I get it or not, I pick another alias, going down the list. Eventually, I will reach an alias that almost no one has a problem with me shooting. I shoot that person, because that person is, by process of elimination, the one person I can't control, and therefore it is someone who might shoot me at random, without me even knowing.

In a game where everyone has someone who objects, I have to pick among people who aren't truly unknowable (because no one is).

This is one of those cases.

It's not a matter of trust. Since I will actually shoot who I say I will shoot, it is simply using the mechanics of the game to get what I want.

I don't lie. I don't break promises.

Trust is built on truth and deal keeping. Out of anyone (other than your hard ally), someone like me, while dangerous, is someone you know how to deal with.

If you don't open up to working with people, you will be shot. Not because others are mean, but because they can't control you. If they want to win, they have to kill people they can't control. Therefore, most people will pretend that you can control them, by saying they will shoot who you want. And they will be lying. If they find someone else who is willing to work with them, they will shoot you instead of them.

Standing on principle when all I want is to cooperate won't save your friends. Even if I don't shoot them, someone else will, because I know I'm not the only one you are so closed off with. In an ironic twist, the more trusting you are in this game, the less of a threat you are to others.

Given a choice between shooting someone who says "no" to an info swap, but who is found through process of elimination, and someone who says "yes" to an info swap, which do you think the person who asked you both will choose to shoot? The one who doesn't trust him, and therefore can't be trusted back.

My deals are concrete ways around that. I don't need your trust. I just need your help.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 8:57 AM

I'm seeing babble. You just said the one who's says no is more likely to be shot but guess what I didn't say no, so you're lying. And considering I asked if anyone was a problem for me to shoot you said no. Thus I figured none of the three j have you were you're allies or you and decided they were safe choices. If you had said otherwise then I would have made sure they weren't targeted at the current time and that would have been the start of a trusted relationship. But instead you're threatening me despite me giving you information in exchange and for that reason you are an enemy now. You can choose to back off now before it's too late or you can continue and put yourself on my hit list. Originally the only ones on my radar were those I knew were dangerous players becaiee they're likely to backstab for their wincon. Your choice if you want on that list.

I took this as a no and you did not clarify or ask for terms. By any stretch of the imagination, you turned me down.

Now I asked you directly, and you told me no, because now it's blackmail.

Please. You said no. You implied no. You said no again.

Emotions running high.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 9:05 AM

Actually if you properly re read you see I gave info for info and told you we would see if I would trust you. I told you it's high risk to trust easily. I don't give anyone the big information immediately.

But that's fine. The war is on if that's what you believ. I've lost all chance of trusting you now.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 9:07 AM

When I said "info swap" I meant role or alias swap. Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear.

"Want to info swap?" = "Want to trade our roles and/or aliases?"

In common terminology.

Exchanging who we're shooting is technically "swapping" "information" but isn't what is thought of when the term is said.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 9:08 AM

Actually info means info and is not specific to that kind of thing. When I'm talking I simple swap info for actual info of usually equal value.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: Makaze
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 9:09 AM

In this game, at least among my community, when we say we swapped info with someone, we mean we got their role and/or alias.

When I said it, that was what I meant.

And if you are more stingy than others with such info, you have to be open in other areas to compensate.

------------------------------------------------

#### Author: WolfOwl
#### Posted: Jan 5, 2017 at 9:14 AM

See you're not understanding something. Info for info of the same kind is the best, but when someone threatens someone who gave them more than they gave, that's low. No one trusts someone like that.

... I get what you're saying, but you're missing my point too.

This is a zero sum game.

Someone ask Player A and Player B "Want to swap role/alias?"

Player A says no, only shot info.

Player B says yes.

The person who asked eventually whittles it down to where they have Player A's alias, if not role, by elimination (more or less).

They have to pick one of the two to shoot.

Which is more of a threat? The one who trusts them enough to give them their info, or the one who is hedging their bets and waiting for a better offer?

It's not just about what you've offered them. It's about what others have offered them. If you bring less to the table than... literally anyone, then you end up the one who gets shot. It's the economy of information.

You have to offer something better than alias and role to compensate for what you lack.

Give an alias, you're easy to take down. The advantage of this game is that we have aliases. If we didn't then I could take down my enemies easily.

Your idea works if no one gives theirs away, but that's not how it works in practice. Unless you can control others, you will be found out because they allowed you to be identified by a process of elimination.

Then you get people like me who can solve the list even if people don't give me info by probing about if X is okay to shoot. Since I really will shoot them, it is highly effective, and there is nothing you can do about it except give me something to make me move off.

This may seem cutthroat, but since I only go for people I don't know, it's a relatively perfect strategy. Until you run into someone who would rather lose than let you gain an advantage.

And what happens at the end when you're controlling everyone?

If I have made a deal with everyone alive, I idle. My deals have to come first, or no one will trust me.

I don't make the deal with enough people that I get into that situation. In general, the people I make the deal with shoot each other without my knowledge. Since they know I won't have them killed, they go for other people. I've never actually gotten to a point where _everyone_ alive had made the deal. Cross that bridge when I come to it.

And you'll turn on them and be the last one standing.

Nope. I never turn on people I make deals to. It's what makes the system work. If I don't try to hurt anyone, then they won't try to hurt me. I become the last priority. The minute I become a real threat, then they shoot me. I can't afford that.

You can't make deals with everyone and expect not to have to turn on someone. You have to pick and choose wisely. So far you chose horribly.

We'll see.

I pick and choose who I make deals with. I don't go back on them once made. I might make deals with 6-8 people throughout the game. Earlier the better. I do not expect them all to live to the endgame, but I do not contribute to their deaths, and tell others not to shoot them if I know about it. At the end game, in the absurd scenario that all of them are the only people alive, then I idle. But that hasn't happened.

I do not make deals when I have at least a third of the players in debt to me. I only make more deals when I need to, for protection and so on. I need to be flexible in the later game. So almost all of my deals are for the first two nights, unless all of them die.

Neither all dead or all alive has happened yet.

I see you've found me, but have learned an important lesson.

I'm not so easy to get rid of.

Unfortunately I don't know your alias. I'm away right now on a small vacation so I don't have much time for chitchat until I get back.

If you had tried harder and engaged more, you might have won. You almost seemed annoyed at my tryharding. You were so detached and hard to read, I thought you were lying to me at every turn.

Read the sheet now. You did idle your Doctor on Night 2 and lied about it, causing me to lose my vest.

No regrets.
I didn't lie about it, I genuenely forgot
You can't blame me for being busy a lot and getting annoyed at those times though.

Me and Caps had a similar discussion I had in the first EiMM game here which involved using the secret word porn being chosen as a word:

I took time out of my work day to send a lot of that stuff! We can't all have healthy priorities.
