Genesis​

The world of Genesis is one that is essentially our own.

There existed a numerous number of individuals who subsist in the world of normal humans with the power to control the forces of nature around them. They were a part of a supernatural world, created and run by them; however, they were schismatic, and separated themselves into factions and families.

After periods of war, they finally came together in a treaty that was made to last a millennia. In that time, these families contributed various things to the magical communities of the world, and ushered in an age of knowledge.

Today, many of their ancestors are alive and well. The world of magic is facing yet another threat of separation as the treaty comes to an end.

Tensions are rising, and the stakes are increasing.

The world of Genesis takes place in a world like our own, albeit very loosely.

Magic in this world is known by the populace, and it is a powerful and influential force in the modern world. In the past, following the schism, many families were created. Each of them had various levels of influence, but most contributed something to the incredibly vast field of magic.

You play a member/ancestor of one of those families, with access to the power of magic. What power you possess is up to you, but it usually echoes your family's own power. Or it doesn't. Your family can still be very much active, or have long since been dissolved. It's really up to you.

Magic (good to know)

There's no need to have it in your profile; it's just good to know.

While magic is rather freeform, it comes down to five different types.

• Evocation: Calling upon natural forces to help. The manipulation of natural elements, matter, and energy falls here.
• Psionics: The power of the mind. Mental manipulation, telepathy, and telekinesis fall here.
• Conjuration: The power to call upon outside forces. Summoning, creation, aether, and nether magics fall here.
• White Arts: For the time period, it's actually considered an outdated term. All things that fall under being generally beneficial to the target - and do not overlap with the other abilities - are considered this.
• Black Arts: Again, considered an outdated term. Basically the opposite of the White Arts; anything that isn't inherently useful, or downright detimental, to the target goes here. It shouldn't overlap with the other abilities.

Name: Victor Cura
Gender: Male
Age: 21

Appearance: Victor has short curly black hair and slightly dark skin. He stands at 5'8 with an athletic built, he has honey brown eyes and a light stubble as well. He doesn't really have a defined dressing style but he's always wearing his signature red jacket regardless of the temperature, something he's gotten used to people mocking.

Ability: Victor has the power of healing. He can heal any wounds as long as he's in close proximity to the person that's wounded, the wound would take more time to heal depending on how grave it is as well as Victor's own condition. It also requires him to keep constant focus on what he's doing. To top it off, he can't use his ability on himself, only on others.

Skills: Victor's power may be healing, but he actually doesn't have much of an interest in medicine. His mother has groomed and trained him so that he has an extensive knowledge of it, though. This gives him knowledge of many diseases and fractures and allows him to discern any wounds a person might have.

His real interest is art however. Ever since he was young Victor's loved to draw and paint, and spends a lot of his time trying to create new works. He's also developed a skill for papercraft, something he gets profit from by selling his creations. He also has an interest in music, and even tried to start a band at some point, but it fell out pretty quickly.

Name: Summer Laflamme
Sex: F
Age: 25

Appearance:

Ability: She's a fire mage. Insert fire emoji here. Summer can summon, control, and manipulate flames at will. In addition, she is immune to negative effects of heat and cold, given her control of flame.

Skills: She has quite a bit of knowledge regarding survival skills out in the wilderness, given her lifestyle. She's a skilled huntress and is a fantastic markswoman.

Other: Mercy is best please. Or Pharah. Or D.va. Or Tracer. Or Widowmaker. Anybody but Mei.

Name: Felicity Russo
Sex: Female
Age: 22

Appearance: Standing at 5'5", Felicity has a fairly slim build. Her skin is light in color, and her hair, while normally dark brown, has a purple finish (pictured below). She has dark brown eyes that are normally accented with winged eyeliner. Her outfits tend to be casual; she wears flannel, beanies, skinny jeans... you see the trend. On her left arm is a detailed sleeve of tattoos.

Ability: Telekinesis and Psychic Energy Manipulation. Since her father, who was also a Magic user, died, she is not quite sure what else she is capable of.

Skills: Felicity loves tinkering with inventions that work well with her magic. She went to school for engineering and has a good grasp on the world and its concepts.

Other: I'm sorry, but Mercy is the best. Also Symmetra. Obviously.

Appearance:

Ability: Considered to be mostly a peculiar form of energy manipulation, and partial self-acceleration. She can deform, accelerate, and reform her body on the sub-atomic level into what seems to be a massive flock of demonic, avian-like creatures, though the effect is usually instantaneous, and only utilized for movement purposes. She can also summon multiple dark wing-like constructs of energy that can allow her to fly for certain periods of time.

Unfortunately, this also means that while her rate of regeneration is fast, her body is increasingly fragile (mostly due to being able to deconstruct and reassemble her atoms so efficiently), and her abilities usually consume quite a bit of her stamina - thus, she tends to avoid fights with heavily physical combatants, or fights that can make her overexert herself. This makes her more of a glass cannon than anything.

Skills: To compensate for the lack of offense that her ability provides, Yun has trained extensively in the martial arts, especially kenjutsu and iaijutsu. Quite a good cook, though she is more than capable of burning someone's house down. Also quite athletic, and boasts extreme agility paired with faster reflexes, not to mention quite a large pool of stamina.

Other: Yun, ironically enough, completely sucks at taking care of herself.

Name: Bella Cruce
Sex: Female
Age: 25

Appearance: Brown blonde hair that goes past her shoulders with a slight waviness. Her eyes are brownish hazel, the pretty kind. Average height with average detective like clothing choice. She always wears a simple gold cross around her neck.

Ability: She can enhance others skills. If they're faster they become faster. If they're strong they become stronger. If they're sucky....well there's no helping that. This also works on their weapons. Their weapons become stronger. It's not permanent.

Skills: She's really good with guns and has really good accuracy. Also quite physically capable at things. Knows how to fight hand to hand and knows plenty of self defense moves. And endless kindness. Oh and detective skills from being a really good detective.

Other: Despite being good with guns she actually hates them and doesn't like using them. Ironically she does always carry one and her family did have a multi generational gun shop in which they actually made their own guns. Not with magic clearly.


Name: Ares Bat
Sex: male
Age: 26

Appearance: Obsidian hair that reaches to the base of his neck and ice blue eyes. While the lower half of his face is covered up most of the time, if one could see it they would see that from below his nose is no flesh. There are also parts on his body lacking flesh. Due to this he usually wears a long black coat with a very high collar. Also always wears gloves. And he's tall. Over six foot tall.

Ability: Anything or anyone he kills or is involved in killing becomes his eternal servant. If their dead bodies are torn apart then he can use the limbs individually. Until they are completely destroyed, he controls the corpses like puppets. It is also assumed their souls are trapped to watch and feel as he controls their bodies, until the day the body is destroyed. Good thing he's a vigilante.

Skills: Pure brute strength. He is actually quite talented with knives. He's also really good at adding stuff to his corpses and making them never looks dead. Basically he has knowledge about the dead and how their bodies work. Saying stuff in non simple ways.

Other: Don't give me opportunities to make psychos.

 

[HeroicSociopath]

Name: Fernando Sanchez
Sex: Male
Age: 23

Appearance: Having been athletic for most of his life, Fernando is in good physical condition. He's tall, with a toned, sleek body. His hair is a deep red, and he has matching eyes. He has a very striking smile. In terms of clothes, he dresses light. Tank tops and shorts are his usual faire. He has a really nice leather jacket with a dragon on the back.

Ability: Fernando, like his ancestors before him, has dedicated his life to the creation and research of magical items. He's made a few of his own, and he's also collected some over the years. He can call them from Subspace by snapping his fingers, and send them back any time that he's directly touching one.

Rod of Might: Normally, it looks like a lacqured rooden rod, about a foot long and just thick enough to make it's intended use somewhat suspect. When Fernando rubs it up and down, it gets longer. He can shrink it by sort of twisting it. And if anyone licks it...

...Just don't lick it. There's no actual limit to how long Fernando can make it. At least not that he's aware of. But past a certain point it just gets awkward. Despite being made of wood, it's actually extremely durable. Further, it's completely resistant to most forms of energy attack. It just absorbs them.
Magic Goblet: Any liquid placed inside will be chilled to the user's taste. The goblet is always at room temperature, so you can put hot coffee or tea in it and it won't burn you.
Grandma's Shovel: A magic shovel Fernando inherited from Grandma Sanchez. It cleaves through dirt with ease. Any dirt or stone placed in it is utterly weightless, and it stays fairly compact. Any nonliving material the blade touches turns to dirt as the shovel passes through it. Finally, any garden this shovel is used in will do extremely well. So well that sometimes the plants turn to monsters.
Ring of Cadaverous Sleep: Anyone wearing the ring will enter a state of suspended animation. They fall asleep, and their metabolism slows to the point where any examination will show that they're dead. Their heat beats once every few years, and there is almost no brain activity. This has the side effect of essentially stopping the subject from aging. The effect is removed as soon as the ring is. Eating the ring or inserting it into any other orifice counts as wearing it.
Ariadne's Thread: A pink ball of yarn. It never runs out, and is extremely soft. The yarn cannot be broken by stretching it: You could use this string tie an elephant to the ceiling of a castle, and the castle roof would break before the string did. However, it can be cut just as easily as any other yarn.
Excalibur: Fernando is not the true king. So for him, it's nowhere near as powerful as it might be for it's intended user. Still pretty nice, though. It's essentially indestructible, which is nice. It glows very faintly most of the time. It shines brighter when "evil entities" such as demons, undead, or other traditionally evil things are nearby. This glow is extremely uncomfortable to look at. Anyone touching the ruby on the pommel will be unable to tell a lie.
Orb of Light: A translucent sphere, about the size of a golfball. When thrown in the air, it will hover, following whoever threw it, emitting a warm light. Poking it changes the color to whatever color the user is thinking of. Grabbing it while it's in the air will cause it to dim again.

Skills: Fernando is crazy strong. Hauling around rare metals for his dad to make into weapons will do that.
Is very good at math, what with being a magical itemsmith.
Is very good at magical itemsmithing.
He was in Boy Scouts, so he's very good at tying knots.
Proficient in using his magical weapons.
He's been tracking the man who killed his father for a year now. He's become very good at camping.
Other: Really more of a League of Legends guy.

Personality: Elle is rather quiet and secluded at first, but when she feels that you can be trusted, she gradually begins to open up. She isn't one to boast of her skills and abilities. She does have a soft heart for helping people and does try to do what she feels is right. However, she does have clumsy spells and isn't always as perfect as she wishes she was. She has a very tender heart, especially towards elderly people and animals. She wants people to succeed and do well in life, no matter what. She's basically a goody-two-shoes. Due to her naturally quiet nature, she doesn't actively seek out people, but if they talk to her, she'll be polite and converse.

Ability: Telepathy. She can send information through the mind as well as receive information from the minds of others. It can take a physical and mental toll on her body if she uses it too much, or for too long. A basic psi user.

Skills: Elle Loves baking desserts and sweets, and likes to dance. She was taught to bake by her grandmother from an early age, and would do bake sales to raise money on multiple occasions. Her late grandfather taught her how to dance until he passed when she turned twelve. She also started picking up sewing and knitting since she figured it would be cheaper to make her dog sweaters instead of buying them.

Extra: I've never played overwatch. Also, Elle has a corgi named Beau, and he wears sweaters.

On the not-so-rare occasions that she lets down her ominous hood, one can see that she has multiple strips of gauze covering her eyes. Underneath that are innumerable scars and blind dichromatic irises.

Ability: Shadow manipulation. This can range from occupying one's shadow, to immobilizing someone by 'pinning' it down, or even forming shadow constructs. To some degree, she also has an innate ability to communicate with most animals; this may just be her natural affinity for nature, however.

She despises sudden bursts of powerful light, and is shown to be visibly weaker when subjected to intense sources of both natural and artificial light. Depending on the intensity, the damage done can range from illness and burns to putting her life in critical danger. Flash grenades, depending on their power, can actually have the potential to kill her.

Skills: Her reflexes are uncanny for a person with her stature and disability. She is actually quite talented with a bow, all things considered. A master at playing the bass, oddly enough.

Other: Though it isn't entirely difficult to guess, Kotori is blind. The only way she can see is with the strange telepathic connection to her omnipresent companion eagle owl. She hates shoes. Kotori likes tea and will aggressively throw bagels at you if your opinion states otherwise. Kotori also does not like loud sounds or fireworks.
