I haven't written a poem in forever but this is one I wanted to finish, sorry if it's a bit rusty. Enjoy.

Have you seen them smile?

are they ugly?
i don’t know.
but have you thought of
what a smile can show?

have you seen them smile
pure and weak?
as they fight the feelings,
of rejection and relief?

have you seen them smile
throughout the day?
when all hope is lost,
but they don't let that get in their way?

have you seen them smile,
because of something you said?
something generous and kind,
that they can't have misread?

have you seem them smile
when they give you their heart?
and the feeling is mutual,
and you forget about the start?

have you seen them smile
with a mouth full of food?
oozing and gushing,
love isn’t so shrewd.

have you seen them smile
when they also see one on you?
you didn’t ever think a smile,
can be so true for you too.

have you seen them smile
even when you’re mad?
because all that matters,
is you can still hold each-others' hands.

have you seen them smile
near the end of your days?
when they found their smile,
but yours starts to fade.

have you seen them smile
later in the dark?
when their smile is different,
and yours is back to the start.

are they ugly? i don’t know.
have you seen your smile?

I'm no proper critique of poetry, but reading this was bittersweet. It covers a wide array of emotions that stem from friendship to death to self-esteem and more. I enjoyed reading it, and I imagined quite a few people myself whose smiles I love to see if I can make it happen, even through tougher times. So! Thanks for sharing this. I enjoyed it. :D
