Pokémon UNITE celebrates its 2nd anniversary with the addition of Mewtwo as a playable Pokémon from July 21st, first glimpse of brand new battle mode

Pokémon UNITE's official English and Japanese Twitter accounts have announced that Mewtwo will be joining the game as a playable character in celebration of the game's 2nd anniversary. Details were also announced via the game's official Japanese website regarding several upcoming additions to the game coming over July, including the introduction of a new battle mode.

Mewtwo joins the fray
Mewtwo will be joining the Pokémon UNITE roster from July 21st. Two separate licenses will be available for Mewtwo, featuring Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y respectively, with players needing to obtain each license separately. The Mega Mewtwo X license will be released alongside Mewtwo on July 21st, while the Mega Mewtwo Y license will be added to the game some time in mid-August.

Inteleon's debut delayed to July 4th
Inteleon, who was previously announced to be joining Pokémon UNITE's roster on July 3rd, will now be released on July 4th. No reason was given for this sudden delay.

New Battle Mode
In commemoration of the game's 2nd anniversary, a new battle mode will be coming to Pokémon UNITE. This new mode is different from the traditional 5v5 battle mode, and will involve players working together to clear the stage. A variety of new wild Pokémon will also be making their Pokémon UNITE debuts as part of this new mode. While a picture of the new dedicated map for this new battle mode were revealed alongside the announcement, no further details about how the mode works have been provided at this time, and a release date for the mode has not yet been announced.

Comfey's new Holowear
A new Holowear Comfey was revealed on Pokémon UNITE's Japanese Twitter account. As of yet, no details about what the Holowear will be called, when it will be available to players, or how much it might cost, have been released.

UNITE Membership Club rewards
The Holowear of the Month for July's UNITE Club Membership will be "Beach Style - Gengar". Players who pay for this premium membership should receive the new Holowear in the coming days. More information about the UNITE Membership Club can be found on Pokémon's official support pages.

National High School Pokémon UNITE Championship Tournament
Also known as "Pokémon UNITE Koshien", the Japanese high school competition for Pokémon UNITE, co-sponsored by Pokémon Inc. and Nippon Television Network Corporation, will be held in just over a month's time on Sunday, August 6th. This national tournament will be held in the NTV Studio with an offline audience, and will also be broadcast on the official Pokémon UNITE YouTube channel. The event will be hosted by Nicole Fujita (藤田 ニコル) together with Robert Hiroshi Yamamoto (ロバート 山本 博), and with live commentary from Shinohara Hikari (篠原 光). Participating teams include:
