But seriously, it sounds like an... interesting... encounter you had with that bird. At least it didn't end with human blood all over the bird's feathers.

She's the family pet. There was a massive hailstorm around here at about 1am, which freaked her out. She started having a panic attack and flapping furiously in her cage, banging against the cage bars and tearing out her flight feathers on her right wing.
I took her out of her cage and sat with her for an hour, both to calm her down and to make sure the bleeding was stopping.
When I put her back around two, I gave her a couple of squirts from a sprat bottle to try cleaning her off.

As far as taking today off, because I'm an idiot, I'm actually going to go to work today.
