the bad guy from the game before is actually a well-intentioned extremist,
and one of the recruits from said game is the REAL bad guy, and the titular shield is a sealed good in a can, as opposed to EVERY OTHER GAME IN THE SERIES, and the gods are EEEEEEVVVVIIIIILLLLLLL.

Guy commits suicide because his daughter leaves him/ you reveal he's in a evil gang. Either way it's your fault and your butt head rival mocks him. Everyone hates the rival but he seems to be the only character who isn't going to die. He also betrays you which is no surprise.
Dying psychic girl gets killed by a dragon because of some guy being manipulated.
City is being destroyed by two weird cults but you don't really know who's the ring leader of the two.

Game takes 3000 years to update.
