For those who knows or dont know, the current dub voice actor group has signed a contract with SAG-AFTRA union. SAG-AFTRA is one of the main voice actor union in the US.
Yesterday, SAG-AFTRA has partnered with Replica Studios, an AI voice technology company and has released a "groundbreaking" AI voice agreement during an event at CES.
"agreement paves the way for professional voice over artists to safely explore new employment opportunities for their digital voice replicas with industry-leading protections tailored to AI technology, allowing AAA video game studios and other companies working with Replica to access top SAG-AFTRA talent." which means that voice actor/ress could use their voice to replicate their voice using an AI and then use said ai voice in a dub.
"The agreement between the leading AI voice company and the world's largest performers’ union will enable Replica to engage SAG-AFTRA members under a fair, ethical agreement to safely create and license a digital replica of their voice. Licensed voices can be used in video game development and other interactive media projects from pre-production to final release." This literally confirms that those AI voice can be used for video game development and "other interactive media" which includes anime dub.
This is actually so horrible. This means that the Horizon dub might go into the AI soulless path. How can we protest against it?
