Things you know won't happen but you hope for anyway

A grand finale to the series that would feature a major major threat by Giovanni and Team Rocket, this would cause an attack on all regions Ash has been to and this would bring all of Ash's companions, friends, rivals and Pokémon together which would end with the final battle between Ash and Giovanni and the destruction of Team Rocket. It'll never happen but that would be a decent enough conclusion to the series.

...headed by the TRio.

Idk, before Satoshi's crowned a Pokemon Master (whatever this means), I'd like to see a final showdown with Rocket-dan (not only trio, the entire organization).

I imagine he's back to Kanto and for some reason Satoshi's getting his winner title there, but Pikachu is stolen by Trio and, for the first time, they manage to take it to Sakaki in the headquarters. Fully in anger and resentment he couldn't save his best friend before, Satoshi goes after them and has a showdown similar to Flare-dan\Ginga-dan. In the end, Sakaki's with the upperhand and, before finishing the boy, he declares he always thought Trio were useless and a bunch of idiots.
Disdainful of this since they conquered their major objective (deliver this Pikachu to the boy), they decide to leave the organization and join the heroes. Somehow Sakaki is killed (I just don't see him getting arrested or disbanding the thing...)
and Trio goes their way deciding to stay together and going after new goals that don't involve crimes.

Meanwhile Satoshi is crowned a Pokemon Master and... Epilogue? Time pass? Show him older? No idea...

(Sorry, I REALLY don't see they bringing all past characters back. Imagine the costs with their voice-actors, and the bunch they'd have to reintroduce)

A spin off in which the player characters of the games go on a journey in a really, really serious mode like in the games or manga. Alola for example, that Sun and Moon, and Hau will be the spin off's main characters and get their starters, and go on across Alola up until the Pokémon League. The series will be completely based on the games' plot. I don't want 3 or 4 years of ongoing series with countless fillers and up and down plots. 24 episodes each season, and 12 episodes for the last season, containing only the league. Each episode will have a massive affect on grown up fans.

Hoping and expecting are two entirely different things. So even though I don't expect any of this things to ever see dawn and light of day, its still something i would liked to see in this show.

Here are two things which come to my mind:
1.)
Misty returning either as main or recurring character in pokemon series.
I know it passed over 10 years since she was present in pokemon anime in any significant form, let alone in flesh.

But i still feel she was one of best characters this anime ever had personality wise. Character which added lot more humor, drama and genuine, amusing interactions bringing overall more charisma to anime with her quirky persona through interactions with friends and various people than her successors imo, had fairly interesting story by having to grow up without parents in older sister shadow pursuing water master career which offered potential to be took in many directions adding for unpredictability.

As well finding myself to enjoy in her battles due to similar hotheaded, fiery passion for competing and becoming best she can be(like Ash) often containing humor and suspense when Psyduck battled, or her more prominent fighters like Poliwag line,Corsola, later Gyarados.

Another very important reason behind this is because well lets face it: Misty really did received short end of stick being royally screwed over. Thanks to executives meddling, mr., Shudo ambivalence, fact that anime early on still didn't had defined path to follow Misty potential and all which came with it never had chance to be explored with character being properly fleshed out.

Leading toward her character being replaced hastily and in unceremonious way at end of Johto, while leaving her story unfinished in many areas. Like her goal of becoming water pokemon master, huge interest in E4 members wanting to reach heights of her idols liked Lorelei, dream to meet legendary water creature learning how to connect with them on deep level, arguably romantic angle added to her story of starting to feel something stronger toward Ash going nowhere. Followed by several other unexplored things(like family, her fears and insecurities, prejudices formed about certain pokemon judging them by looks etc).

Not defining her future, what will happen with her own dreams(since she views gym as job forcing it on herself to help sisters pout) and in what direction she will go.

So to fix at least some of injustice and put to use some of that untapped potential giving Misty character proper closure and some more development(which would only benefit her honestly) is imo valid reasoning behind supporting her comeback.

For example in my opinion bringing her back in Alola at some point would be great idea., Since Misty is perfect water specialist fitting for Alola islands environment; someone who adores oceans and water pokemon. Who has interesting dream of battling, challenging all kind of strong trainers trying to reach E4 level and become water master(it may have not been explored enough to see all intricacies but there existed and honestly still exists potential for unique story arc being formed out of it). Hell i know she would be thrilled to explore new life in Alola islands, battle captains, learn about island guardians, master Z movers and collect Z crystals to establish stronger than ever before bond with water types(like mega evolution was, which ended as unused opportunity sadly).

I also think distant water based region like Alola would have been solid environment to make whole backstory about her deadbeat parents which according to Shudo blogs and novelizations abandoned their kids leaving them to take care of everything on their own. Which could lead toward Misty and her sisters learning about their whereabouts, confrontation, misunderstanding and some emotional, rich character growth from her side growing more understanding and stronger out of it.

Make new friends(somehow i think she and Lana would be able to understand each other pretty well).;)

Fairly big number of dual bug, water pokemon Sun and Moon introduced such as Dewpider, Aeaquanid,Wimipod etc could lead toward diving deeper in whole fear and intolerance toward bug types instigating great material to learn more about her past and face her own fears and prejudices.
Etc.

Even though realistically, if there existed any incentive to take advantage of Alola islands and make something out of Misty character it would have likely already happened from very start. What a pity.

2.)
Ash winning pokemon league.
There has been so many missed opportunities, so many build ups and development leading toward this just to see mine and many others hopes, excitement and enthusiasm end up squashed and demolished. To the point of stopping to expect any of that. Especially once writers and to be fair more so directors(since some writers at this point would have done this already) started resorting to all kind of plot devices bordering with reality just to justify Ash never been good enough ti go all the way to top.

Best example was Tobias, randomly forced in story guy packing for all we know full team of legendary just to prevent Ash acclaiming throne he worked his way up fairly. Since everyone else weren't up to that task. Followed by regressing Ash in Unova losing to kid with low intelligence ending up humiliated in Unova league. There was also of course all that build up and hype for Kalos flopping in end due to Alain and his Charizard being overpowered to absurd levels.

But still after so many years of travelling. So much hard work and training. Working with all kind of pokemon raising them in remarkable teams. Huge passion and desire to become pokemon master knowing winning regional league is first boig step toward catching that dream.

I hope that one day Ash will indeed win this league. Have us introduced to champion league and who knows what other steps, challenges and temptations Ash would need to face in order to become pokemon master.

Its ironic how even winning champion league is simply while big, just one of steps Ash has yet to overcome in order to only come closer toward earning this title and passing procedure to become master. Yet he has yet to fulfill requirements just to earn pass in competing in champion league(meaning becoming winner of regional tournament).

Talking about lazy, overstretched and bad writing when it comes to storyline.

In the back of my mind, I still kind of want to see Ash compete in the Champion's League with his full roster of Pokemon...

An Ash-Greninja spinoff features Zygarde and the Kalos Mythicals in an Avengers or Justice League-style team up to promote the spinoff games. That is all.

The entire thing to turn out to be a seizure hallucination caused by Pikachu shocking him in the first episode and the anime to restart with Ash being less of a ditz early on... and then actually age in real time.

Well, I hope to see a real Episode about the ancient story of Mew, not Mewtwo

A new main anime following the game’s plot. Ash just feels shoved in there: He never takes any strong Pokemon to new regions(Like Charizard, Snorlax, and Goodra) and always travels with a Pikachu. They are so weak, and his is always so strong or so weak. He never even wins when he does have strong Pokemon! If the Sun/Moon anime was a new one where the main chars followed what happens in the games, I would be happy. Lillie has a Vulpix, and not Nebby, and we see her mansion despite living in Aether Paradise in le games. BW anime could have been so much more... Along with all of the animes.

To be honest, I haven't kept up with the anime in a long time, but it always feels awkward that OLM have to shove the permafive into the plots of the games. Anyone know how the anime actually handles game villain teams?

In all but the TRio and Skull, they are introduced late in the series and have a big plot that may or may not be like the games. Also, AZ, who was a semi-main char in the games, is nowhere to be seen in the anime. I mean nowhere. The closest he’s gotten was Pokemon Generations, a superior anime.

Someone needs to draw some fanart of Porygon's evolutionary line, AZ, Wally, and various other adapted-out characters, such as Peeves the poltergeist from Harry Potter, at some kind of support group where they sip tea, while Kadabra weeps in the corner.

In all seriousness, though, I've been following PokéSins for a long time, and I've noticed how early on, they tried to set up Team Rocket as a big threat with the Battle Aboard the SS Anne, which I'm assuming ends up going nowhere because weekly anime broadcasting.

Let’s get Dan in there too.

But yes, TR plays backseat to all the other teams who end up threatening the whole region. M/A: Expand Land/Sea. G: Make new world. P: Take Control of powerful Pokemon for their own purposes. F: Uh... Whatever they do, it threatens the whole region... S: They’ve been in two episodes, how can we know their goal?

Who's Dan? The name sounds too generic to search for.

I remember when I was little, I thought that Team Galactic was the Evilest Group Ever 2k6 (even though I didn't start thinking that until about 2008/9, but still). I don't have strong emotional reactions to fictional villains anymore.

Honestly, the anime is not good. In Origins and Generations, Ash was not there and it was considered a better anime series. I think Ash is holding the anime back.
