I can personally see how the Chinese leaks could've mistaken Sylvally as a breedable cat. It does favor a cat in the face tbr, so if he/she happened to pass by the early art for it, and all they see is the same pokemon with 18 different designs, I feel like it's a perfectly rational conclusion...

I was just inferring that it could be the case if the starters did have it. Battle Bond being exclusive to Ash/Greninja and potentially AZ/Floette feels extremely pointless to me.

If Battle Bond for the starters existed, it wouldn't be a stretch to say we'd meet someone who can change the ability from the original ones once we acquire max friendship.

Just the prospect of Cobalion being from a group of sword fighters is enough for me. Lucario is actually a great example, considering the only thing steel about it is the spike on it's chest. It would take one hell of an imagination for liquid Mercury to be translated into poplio3 being steel...

How exactly would that make it part steel? Its too organic in appearance for that imo. Cobalion is the closest to an organic/steel Pokemon but that can be explained by it being in the sword trio/quartet.

I just had an epiphany... Ash-Greninja exists to potentially give us a tie in to 7th gen no? So wouldn't it be a fair bet to say "Battle Bond" is more than just a random feature for one mon... and is in fact what the Riddler hinted to about the starters being more than just what we currently...

Maybe it's a merman that smacks people around. If they are indeed split forms, maybe Flying, Dark, and Fairy are one form and didn't show up on the website. It's just a theory, I don't actually see it happening.

In order the typings were Grass, Flying,Ground, Fire,Water,Fighting. Primary typing for starters is always grass, fire, or water, so if split forms exist then Grass/Flying into Grass/Ground for burrowing Owl makes more sense; same for Water/Fighting male Popplio since people are sensitive about...
