An increased encounter rate has not been proven, though it is easier to find a specific shiny due to the fact that there are only three different Pokemon species in one safari.

Just encountering in the Friend Safari, there's no real special method to it, just go to the friend safari and start encountering Pokemon. You can use Encounter Power to find Pokemon more quickly.

Ran into a shiny Sigilyph when just looking through all my friend safaris I have. Jolly nature with perfect Special Attack and Special Defense, but terrible Attack. Sigilyph's a cool shiny, so Im pretty happy about it.

You're misinformed. Any of the two Pokemon can be foreign. The Japanese Ditto and American Bulbasaur will work for Masuda Method.

It dosent increase the chances. The odds are always the same as a random encounter: 1/8192 each reset. The point is it gives you another chance to encounter it, so therefore gives it that chance to be shiny each time you reset. If you didnt you'd have to be very lucky to get a shiny of that...
