1. When voting please give a reason for why you made that particular choice. Failure to do so will result in a Pointless Post infraction.
This is to avoid people spamming this forum.

2. While joke answers can be added to the poll, you should not post only to say that you voted for it. Also, please don't post just to complain about an option you feel SHOULD be in the poll. As these add nothing to the discussion, it will be considered a Pointless Post and thus be infractable.
Basically, only post if you voted for the options you see in the thread title (and assuming you're abiding by rule #1). If, while abiding by rule #1, you want to comment on either of these, feel free, but please keep rule #1 in mind.

3. To help people search better, participants of the battles MUST be posted in the thread title. Posts not adhering to this rule will receive an Incoherent/Unreadable Post infraction and the mods will alter the title to what we deem to be the best fit.
If you feel your thread should be an exception to this rule, you MUST seek the approval of one of the mods of this section. I know you guys have creative ideas for thread titles, but there's always the poll options title that can be used for those. By forcing you to stick the choices in the title, we're making it easier for people to search and find a poll that's been done, and easier for people to find, at a glance, the thread they're looking to post in.

4. Make sure your thread only has one match-up being discussed. Multiple match-ups in a single thread are not allowed. Threads disrespecting this rule will be closed without exception.
So, basically, you can have Superman vs. Batman as one thread, and Leprechaun 2 vs. Elf as another thread, but not both match-ups as one thread (so no Superman vs. Batman and Leprechaun 2 vs. Elf in the same thread). This is because, frankly, it's just weird to bundle them.

5. No comparing two completely different things. Basically, no comparing a movie to a video game character. You can compare a video game character to a movie character, but not a video game to a movie soundtrack.
Certain exceptions will be made, but you need mod approval (there are certain things that are just good comparisons, but we don't need Superman vs. the Shaft series).
Standing exceptions:
Comparing a character to their movie/video game/comic. I.e., comparing Superman as a character to the Superman films.
You can always compare movies and TV shows to books or comics (and books to comics, but that should be obvious. And TV shows to movies. Especially if it's a movie adapted to a TV series or the other way around). These are all narrative works, and work well comparatively, since they have similar attributes.
Comparing soundtracks to the films they're soundtracks of. Should be obvious why.
Characters can always be compared to real life people (see rule #6).

6. Only famous people.
You can compare actors and singers (and other real people involved in the creation of movies, TV shows, comics, etc.), but they have to have a certain amount of fame. No comparing an actor to your friend Mel, basically. Someone who's been in a single film is fine, but not your friend who was in the background of one scene. Or who made a film in their basement.

7. No porn.
No comparing porno actors or hentai or things like that. It's just too easy for that to lead to images, and that would be a direct violation of the Inappropriate Content infraction.

These are subject to change, but a note will be made in the thread title if an update is made.
