I bought a Switch last year, so I’ll probably consider buying the Eevee version. I just want gen 8 though.

You'll have to wait for that one a bit longer. It won't be starting until late into 2019. I think Game Freak made these games to keep us occupied until then. And I have a feeling that it's going to work...
