Several stores in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand will be distributing code cards across October and November that can be used to receive Genesect, Volcanion, and Marshadow in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield. No purchase is required for players to receive these codes, however supplies will be limited and will only remain available while stocks last. Each person can only receive one code card, and each code can only be used once.

A new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet recently released by The Pokémon Company International on the official Pokémon YouTube channel revealed several new features, a new Pokémon that evolved from an existing Pokémon, and two new Abilities. The distribution of code cards to redeem Shiny Eternatus in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield that were previously announced for several countries has now also been announced to be distributed in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. In Taiwan and Hong Kong, the code cards will be distributed from October 18th, while it will distribute from October 21st in Japan. Both will distribute them until November 17th. No purchase will be required for players to receive these code cards, however supplies are limited and will only be available while stocks last. Each person can only receive one code card, and each code can only be used once. The codes will expire on November 24th in Japan only.

Niantic has announced that the Festival of Lights event will make its return this year in Pokémon GO. This event, which runs from October 14th at 10:00 a.m. to October 17th at 8:00 p.m. local time, will sees the Pokémon GO debut of the Illuminating Pokémon Morelull and Shiinotic. Morelull can be evolved into Shiinotic using 50 Morelull Candy.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield's October 2022 Season for Ranked Battles (Season 35) has begun. This season will run until 4:59pm PDT on October 31st. This season will follow the Series 13 regulations, in which Trainers can battle alongside special Pokémon that are normally restricted. However, there are no restrictions on the number of special Pokémon that may be registered to the Battle Team. Dynamaxing or Gigantamaxing are also allowed.

Following on from the announcement last week that the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be officially printed in Simplified Chinese for release in Mainland China, full details on the initial launch have now been revealed, including information about the first sets to be released. The 太陽&月亮一橫空出世 (Sun & Moon一Spectacular Transcendence) expansion will be released as three different subsets, 赫 (Radiant), 苍 (Verdant), and 泽 (Abundant), for release on October 28th, alongside a GX Starter Set. A launch event will also be held in China on this same day to celebrate the release of the Simplified Chinese cards.

Niantic has announced the Evolving Stars event for Pokémon GO, which will run from October 5th at 10:00am to October 11th at 8:00pm local time. Cosmoem will be making its Pokémon GO debut during this event, with Trainers able to able to evolve their Cosmog into Cosmoem by using 25 Cosmog Candy. A new part in the season-long Season of Light Special Research will also be unlocking as part of this event.

Niantic has released more details on the upcoming ticketed Pokémon GO Safari Zone: Taipei event, which will being held from October 21st to October 23rd at the Da'an Forest Park in the city of Taipei. A Pokémon Air Adventures event is also scheduled to be held concurrently with this Safari Zone event. Niantic has announced details for the 2022 edition of Pokémon GO's Fashion Week event, which this year will be running from September 27th at 10:00am through until October 3rd at 8:00pm local time. During the event, trainers can look forward to encountering a variety of Pokémon wearing fashionable costumes including Diglett, Dugtrio, Absol, and Toxicroak. The Brutal Star Pokémon Mareanie and Toxapex will each be making their debut during Fashion Week, together with a selection of new avatar items inspired by the two Pokémon. Furfrou, who made its Pokémon GO debut during 2021's Fashion Week event, will be able to be encountered in its Shiny variant for the first time.

Pokémon UNITE's official social media accounts have announced that the Fairy Pokémon Clefairy and Clefable will be joining the game's roster from October 13th.
