Pokémon GO is ringing in the New Year with a special New Year's celebration event to run from 8:00pm local time December 31st, through to 8:00pm January 4th, 2023. As with previous years, festive fireworks will light up the Pokémon GO skies during this event, and a selection of Pokémon will be available in outfits themed around New Year's parties, including the debut appearances of Pikachu wearing a party top hat, and Noctowl wearing a New Year's outfit.
Niantic has confirmed that the Spiny Nut Pokémon, Chespin will be the featured Pokémon for Pokémon GO's Community Day in January 2023. During this event, Chespin will be appearing more frequently in the wild, with its Shiny variant also being available for the first time. The event will be held on January 7th, 2023, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time.
Part 2 of Pokémon GO's Winter Holiday 2022 event will be running through until December 31st, at 8:00pm local time. The entire Eevee family will debut their holiday hat appearance in Pokémon GO as part of this event. Niantic has also announced details of the Winter Wonderland and Hisuian Avalugg Raid Day events taking place on Christmas Eve, December 24th.
Niantic has announced details for the first part of 2022's Winter Holiday event in Pokémon GO, which running from December 15th at 10:00am to December 23rd at 10:00am local time. This event will feature the Pokémon GO debuts of both Shiny Bergmite and Mega Glalie.
The Scarlet & Violet expansion to the Pokémon Trading Card Game, will be released worldwide on March 31st, 2023. As revealed during the 2022 Pokémon World Championships event in October, this expansion will see the return of the Pokémon ex to the game. The new Scarlet & Violet Series of TCG cards will also see several aesthetic and playability updates coming to the game, including several changes designed to bring card design internationally more in line with the Japanese releases.
Tyranitar and Salamence will be appearing in 4-star and 5-star Tera Raid Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet between December 9th at 00:00 UTC and December 11th at 23:59 UTC. Tyranitar will appear exclusively for players with Pokémon Scarlet, while Salamence will be appearing exclusively in Pokémon Violet. These Pokémon will be available in a wide array of Tera Types, including rare Tera Types for these species.
Niantic has announced details for Pokémon GO December Community Day for 2022, which will run from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time on December 17th and December 18th. Pokémon that were featured in Community Day events in 2021 and 2022, including 11 monthly events from each year as well as 3 Community Day Classic events, will return in this month's Community Day event. Pokémon previously featured during 2022 will appear more frequently in the wild and in Timed Research, while Pokémon featured throughout 2021 will hatch from Eggs and appear in raids and Timed Research.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet's Ranked Battles Season 1 (December 2022 Season) has begun alongside the release of the Version 1.1.0 update. This season will run through to January 5th, 2023 at 8:59am (JST).
Nintendo has announced that tomorrow, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be receiving a software update to Version 1.1.0. This update will see the start of Ranked Battles Season 1, as well as fixes to a bug where in-game music was not playing during battles against the Elite Four and the Champion.

Niantic has announced that Bahasa Indonesia language support has been added to Pokémon GO. Both new and existing players can now set Bahasa Indonesia as their in-game language. Future events in Indonesia will receive Bahasa Indonesia language announcements on the pokemongolive website, on Instagram @PokemonGOAppID, and on Facebook at PokemonGOAppID. To celebrate the launch of this new language, the Waktu Indonesia Nangkep event will be running for Trainers physically located in Indonesia until January 8th, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Niantic has announced preliminary details regarding Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn, which will be beginning in February 2023. The first live event of the tour will be held at Sunset Park in Nevada, Las Vegas on February 18th and 19th, from 10am to 6pm (PST). This will then be followed by a global event will be held on February 25th and 26th, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.

A wave of Ultra Beasts will be appearing in Pokémon GO as part of global events running between now and November 27th. On November 26th, in-person events will be taking place in London in the United Kingdom, and Los Angeles in the United States. A livestream will also be broadcast on the official Pokémon GO YouTube channel as part of these events, starting from November 26th at 7:00pm (PST, GMT -8).
In the lead-up to the upcoming Ultra Beast Arrival: Global event in Pokémon GO, Niantic has announced details for the Astral Eclipse event, which will begin on November 23th at 10:00am, and run through until November 28th at 8:00pm local time, after the conclusion of Ultra Beast Arrival: Global. Solgaleo and Lunala, the Sunne and Moone Pokémon from Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will each be making their Pokémon GO debuts during Astral Eclipse. Trainers can acquire these legendary Pokémon by using 100 Cosmog Candy to evolve their Cosmoem at day or night respectively.

The Pokémon Company International has announced that Pokémon Trading Card Game Live beta is now available globally for download on iOS, Android, Windows PC and macOS devices. The app is currently available in six languages: English, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. The beta initially opened to players from Canada on February 22nd, and was later opened to players in Mexico on May 24th. The beta was further extended to players in Australia and New Zealand from July 20th, and to Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden from October 18th.
For the second year running, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will include a holiday themed balloon featuring Pikachu and Eevee riding in a giant Poké Ball-inspired sled and wearing winter clothing. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be broadcast in the United States live on NBC, and livestreamed on Peacock, starting at 9am in all US time zones.
