A new online competition has been announced for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Registration for the Fair and Square competition will begin on June 2, 2021, at 10:00 p.m. PDT, and will remain open until June 17, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. The competition itself will then takes place starting from June 17, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. PDT, running until June 20, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.

The Gym Leaders of Sword and Shield's Galar region have quickly become fan favourites, and so it's no surprise that Good Smile Company would seek to capitalize on that with their latest Nendoroid, Raihan, the Dragon type Gym Leader of Hammerlocke. As typical for Pokémon Nendoroids, Raihan comes with a number of accessories, including multiple face places, and both horizontal and vertically orientated Rotom phones. Raihan is also accompanied by a suitably chibified version of his partner Pokémon, Duraludon, which has some limited posibility with its legs, arms, and mouth.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Version 1.3.2 is now available to download for the Nintendo Switch. According to Nintendo Support, this update fixes a bug where some Pokémon icons were not properly displaying when players are in online or local wireless battles. It also fixes several minor bugs to enhance the gameplay experience. This update is required to access Internet features. Ver. 1.3.2 (Released May 11, 2021) Fixed the issue where some Pokémon icons were not properly displaying during online or local wireless battles. Several issues have been fixed to improve gameplay experience. Complete these steps Connect the Nintendo Switch console to the Internet. Return to the HOME Menu and launch the game. To celebrate World Penguin Day on April 25th, the Penguin Pokémon Eiscue will be appearing more frequently in Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Sword and Shield through April 25, 2021 at 4:59 p.m. PDT. Shiny Eiscue, which has a pastel pink ice cube on its head, can also be encountered.

Ranked Battles Series 9 Regulations Announced

The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) has released the new ruleset for competitive battles. These Series 9 rules will be standard for all competitions, including Ranked Battles, Players Cup events, and the Championship series, taking effect as of May 1st, 2021. These Series 9 rules are the same as the Series 7 rules, where "restricted" Pokémon (most Legendary Pokémon and all Mythical Pokémon) were not permitted to battle.

Earlier this week, it was announced that a casual competition would be running in Pokémon Sword and Shield between 4:00 p.m. PST February 25, 2021 and 3:59 p.m. PST February 28, 2021, the Global Challenge Winter. The casual competition will allow trainers to battle with teams including one Legendary Pokémon out of a set of Legendaries not normally allowed in online competitions.

Japanese man arrested for selling hacked Pokémon

According to several reports in the Japanese media, Kawamatsu Kazuki, a 23 year-old unemployed Japanese man from the Minami ward of Nagoya, was recently arrested under Japan’s Unfair Competition Prevention Act for alledgedly generating and selling hacked Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield, including both shiny Pokémon and Pokémon intended for competitive play. Under Japanese law, it is an offense to offer services to bypass technical limitation measures in software, including modifying the save data of video games.

New Information Revealed About Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass

On September 29, 2020, the Official Pokémon YouTube channel premiered a video showcasing various new features coming in the Crown Tundra expansion of the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games. As was announced earlier, the Crown Tundra, like its predecessor, the Isle of Armor, will be introducing 100 more Pokémon not in the original version into the game, including many Legendary Pokémon from previous installments (while some legendary Pokémon, such as Mewtwo, Reshiram, Zekrom, Solgaleo, and Lunala, were already coded into the game from the start, they needed to be transferred from past games in order to be available in Sword and Shield). Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are even set to receive regional variants. At the Crown Tundra, the player will meet Peony, who will place them in charge of his team as his expedition chief. In a mode called Dynamax Adventures, the player can explore caves with teams of other players using rental Pokémon to encounter and catch Legendary Pokémon...
