Registration for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet's 2024 Global Challenge III Online Competition will open next week on March 21st at Midnight (UTC). Registration will remain open until the end of the month, with the competition itself scheduled to run from March 29th, at Midnight (UTC) through to March 31st, at 11:59pm (UTC).

Today's livestream on the Pokémon Trading Card Game's official Japanese YouTube channel has revealed the new Boomerang Energy Special Energy card, which will be released in Japan at the end of next week on March 22nd as part of the Crimson Haze subset for the Scarlet & Violet series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Cards from Crimson Haze will be released internationally later this year as part of an as-yet unannounced expansion.

The special distribution of Pawmot which was announced for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet late last week has now commenced. This Pawmot, which is based on Nemona's Pawmot as seen in the music video of the YOASOBI song Biri-Biri, is being released to celebrate the song's physical CD & LP release in Japan. This distribution will remain available to redeem until February 28th next year.

Multithon 2024 is being held this week from March 14th to March 17th, with an additional preshow on the 13th. This year's marathon, which is raising money for BluePath Service Dogs, will feature both Pokémon Red and Pokémon Emerald, alongside Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX in a multiworld format using Archipelago. The event's stream will be active on the Multithon Twitch channel from 9:00am (PDT) to around 12:30am (PDT) each day if the event.

Even more Poké Lids are coming, this time to Fukui Prefecture, where Dragonite is the Prefectural Ambassador. The six Poké Lids feature Dragonite, along with Archen and Tyrantrum (Katsuyama), Togetic and Zigzagoon (Awara), Honedge and Toxel (Echizen), Kubfu (Eiheiji), Tatsugiri (Takahama), and Mareanie and Wiglett (Mihama). These Lids were all illustrated by sowsow, a prominent Pokémon Trading Card Game illustrator who has also contributed illustrations to Pokémon Sleep and the Pokémon x Van Gogh museum exhibit.

Niantic has announced that the annual Pokémon GO Fest will be returning once more this year with 3 separate on-site events, as well as a global event. The three on-site events will be held in Sendai, Japan from May 30th to June 2nd; Madrid, Spain from June 14th to 16th; and New York City in the United States from July 5th to 7th. The global event meanwhile will be held on July 13th and 14th. This year's edition of the Pokémon GO Fest will see the debut of the Mythical Pokémon Marshadow.

March 10th is Oshawatt Day! In celebration, Mie Prefecture are installing six new Poké Lids with the Sea Otter Pokémon. These Lids also include Ditto (Minamiise), Spoink (Tamashiro), Meowth (Matsusaka), Lechonk and Phanpy (Taki), Surskit and Taillow (Kawagoe), and Cyclizar (Suzuka).

Shortly after the release earlier of Glorious Day by Eve, the final originally scheduled song for Project VOLTAGE, the official @PokeMikuVOLTAGE account on X (formerly Twitter) has announced that the project will be continuing, confirming that additional songs will be produced for the project. Vocaloid producer sasakure.UK was also announced as the first Vocaloid producer for this continuation.

2023's Solve the Case! Costume event is returning to Pokémon Masters EX today, alongside a set of Costume Scouts featuring Costume Sync Pairs who originally made their debut in Parts 1 and 2 of the Solve the Case! event. Also launching today is the game's latest Ultimate Battle challenge, Ultimate Battle: Palmer's Rumbling Might.

The speedrunner toronite will be performing two runs of Pokémon Trading Card Game for the Game Boy Color as part of the 24 hour Gamers Against Cancer charity speedrunning marathon, starting Saturday March 9th at 9:00am Pacific Standard Time. The runs will be streamed live on the event's Twitch channel.

Earlier this week, Niantic released full details for the upcoming Weather Week event, which will be taking place in Pokémon GO starting March 14th, at 10:00am and running through to March 18th, at 8:00pm local time. Shiny Castform will have an increased chance of appearing in the wild during this event.

As announced during the Pokémon Presents video presentation on Pokémon Day, Sleep Researchers are getting their first opportunity to observe the sleep styles of a Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Sleep this month, with the two week long Raikou Research event starting Monday March 25th at 4:00am local time, and running through to Monday April 8th at 3:59am local time.

The official Pokémon Trading Game website for Indonesia has announced the launch of a monthly Hari Kartu Pokémon (Pokémon Card Day) event. These new monthly events will take place on the last Friday of each month starting March 29th, the same day as the release of the Indonesian-exclusive Paradoks Andalan (Ace Paradox) set, which combines the Japanese Wild Force and Cyber Judge expansions into a single set.
