If you are speaking of that last line, that is not the difficulty, that just means this game is being made for the DS.

Re: New Gamefreak Pokemon title for the DS in 2010

I don't care if its a Crystal remake or not, but if this is a single release and not a pair of games, what can it be? We know Gen 5 it ain't.

An all-new region with old Pokemon? A remake of Crystal or FR/LG? Not a lot of options here.

Or *gasp* something completely original like what it suggests :/

How much do we know about Movie 13 really? For all we know, it could tie into this game. Besides, the movies barely tie into the games, and for all we know, this is a side-series to go along with the main one.

Re: New Gamefreak Pokemon title for the DS in 2010

Would be interesting to see an all-new region, apparently without any real new Pokemon.

Maybe it'll be a game without the Gym quest?

Yeah, that's original.

Re: New Gamefreak Pokemon title for the DS in 2010

On other forums I can't believe people think this is Gen 5. As if they would really put a new gen when the DS has maybe a year or so left before being replaced by the DS2.

Re: New Gamefreak Pokemon title for the DS in 2010

It'll be Pokémon Dash 2. It's called an RPG because you'll have to walk over the overworld talking to different mon to unlock new courses, and when you win you gain exp you can spend to boost Pikachu's max speed or acceleration.

Re: New Gamefreak Pokemon title for the DS in 2010

The problem is that the Japanese news sites' reports are conflicting with the announcement on the official web site. The former reports explicitly mention new Pokémon, whereas the latter does not. Why wouldn't the official web site mention something as important as that if Tsunekazu Ishihara has already spilled the beans?

New Pokémon RPG Announced: Possible Generation V game on its way

In an announcement today, the Pokémon Company has revealed that a brand-new Pokémon RPG is set to be released later in this year for the Nintendo DS. Further details are unavailable at this time.

Three words for you.

Game. Boy. Color.

Re: New Gamefreak Pokemon title for the DS in 2010

^that's right, Gold and Silver could be played on origional gameboys as well as the gameboy color's, Crystal was the only game of the first six to be force played on the gameboy color.

The two sources are from different people.

The Oricon news report is from Satoru Iwata (Nintendo President), whereas the official site's report is from Tsunekazu Ishihara (Pokemon Company President). Both said slightly different things but it seems Iwata revealed a bit more.

New Pokemon DS games, huh?
Sounds interesting... but something tells me that they're spin-offs rather than the main RPGs.

Re: New Gamefreak Pokemon title for the DS in 2010

Remember people, it says ORIGINAL. When remakes became ORIGINAL? But anyway nobosy will listen me so whatever.

I believe this is a new series like Ranger or Mystery Dungeon. Oh great more crappy spinoffs.

Strange we have no details on a game that's supposed to be released this year. No website or anything.

Odd.

Perhaps Iwata will retract his statement and pin the blame on the press for misunderstanding him, as he did it with the news about the successor. I'm only being half sarcastic.

If the report can be taken at face value, then this seems like an excessive way to prolong the DS' lifetime, and it will no doubt come at the expense of new features. Even if Game Freak managed to take the games to a new level, it would still look bad because they could have done the same thing four years ago, or at least a year ago with HGSS.

They were still labeled as GBC games and could be played in color and with infrared connectivity on that system. The fact that they were also playable on the GB is mere trivia.

Yeah it is actually.

I wonder what they're planning.
It'd be stupid to release info near the release date, since there's no time to attract customers and such.

Hmm.

Thanks.

Odd.

Nintendo's strategy for quite some time now has been a much smaller window between a game's announcement and its release. Primarily because of how badly the hype for SSBB backfired.

These games will be the first new Generation instalments to come around since this change in policy - but we've already seen it in plenty of other Pokemon titles so far: Platinum, HG/SS, Ranger 3 - all announced and released within the space of a few months.

In a way, this is kind of a good thing for us - it saves us 2 years of insane hype and allows us to keep misinformation to a minimum.

Yeah it is actually.

Most mainstream PR for a game wont begin until it's very close to going Gold. Basically, announcement --> release in under 3 months is a pretty solid minimum, and these games will more than likely be double that amount of time.

So, maybe these will be labelled as DSi?

I realize that, but even so, tracks of light and HGSS had website and info, even videos, almost immediatley. So why is it that this game, which is also being released less than a year, has nothing?

Oh and since you mentioned SSBB...

"Up until now... DELAY!"
