Worldwide release date? Huh.

Re: Pokémon X and Y announced: Iwata reveals plans for Gen VI in Nintendo Direct stre

Is any else bothered this just a little bit like I am. It all sudden makes Gen V too short with a life span of 2 years in America. They didn't even bother with silhouettes. Don't get me wrong, all of the new Pokemon look cool. But it is like they are not taking their time on this one. It's like they are saying, "F*** it, lets release worldwide on October 2013."

I'm getting headaches already from this new gen, Black 2 and White 2 haven't even been out that long for a new one to come out, I would of been okay with a remake of Ruby and Sapphire but I dunno about this new one, the new legends look pretty nice, in my view I'm most likely getting Pokemon Y, let's all hope and pray these new names are too much of a headache

I think its because the rest of the common folk not of japan aren't used to the silhouette style. I am curious how they managed to align the release date though. They are either cutting corners, delayed the Japanese release, or got more translators, and I hope its the lattermost.

I want to be but its just too much D:
I know I'm gonna buy it and love it like the others but I mean cmon, the grass looks like Oshawatt and I want it because its cute but the fire one looks like it'll have an awesome evolution line, I will admit that the battle system does look very nice, all I know is that the TCG cards are going to be quite the collection....

The translation process was already significantly streamlined in Gen V. It used to be that the Japanese script was translated into English, which was then translated into the rest of the European languages. Then in Gen V, everything was translated directly from Japanese. Evidently they've been looking at ways of cutting down these gaps for a while.

(Korea will still probably have to wait ages though...)

It feels to me like they have rushed Gen V a bit, which was inevitable due to how late into the DS's lifetime they released it. In Japan Gen V will only be 1 year shorter than Gen IV/III, because of the simultaneous worldwide release it'll be 1&1/2 years shorter in the rest of the world. The speed of the event legendary distribution was increased in Gen V, leading me to speculate that we'd be getting Gen VI sooner than we might have previously expected. Though we still haven't got Meloetta yet, despite the website saying "Stay tuned for how you'll be able to get Meloetta's Pirouette Forme in your game!" for the past few months. Also we're still waiting for the Rowap Berry to be announced for Gen V! (Custap and Jabocca have been announced but not available yet).

Though does it really matter than Gen V was rushed? No because Gen VI looks sooo good.

Ha! New logos again! I wonder what the rainbow DNA double helix means, if anything.

What can I say? Pretty pleased with what I see!

Visually, the game looks just sweet! Playful, cartoon-ish graphics, and a blend between the classic perspective and a more traditional camera; it's just what the Pokémon series is supposed to look like. Hope the perspective is overly dynamic and adjustable to each situation. The graphics could use some anti-aliasing, but I don't think I'll complain about that. :p Not a big fan of the male hero's design. Seems a bit too much like Nate; though I suspect there may be some customization involved. The girl is nice though. Overall, the "chibi" designs are familiar and very likeable. Heads could be a bit smaller, but they are all right! :p

It appears that there is quite some interactivity with the game's world. Hopefully, things the player character jumping with a rope will be common throughout the game. We've been just walking, running or riding a bike so far (and surfing and flying, but the mechanics are pretty superficial :p)... Nice to see more! A bit worrisome that we haven't seen Pokémon on the overworld just yet though. The much needed added interactivity requires that, and BW's decrease of HMs use and withdrawal of HGSS's walking Pokémon feature was a step back. Fingers crossed for that!

Also, France it seems! I was expecting a return to Japan, but I have no objections to a European setting, especially considering they aren't cutting it from older elements, like BW's Unova. I wonder if the game will tie with any of the previous ones. Looking at the "big picture" of the franchise would render well-made, colorful references necessary. Game Freak should open up their mind and be less strict with storytelling -- give a unique, fresh take on the Pokémon World but also inject some unexpected, unlikely ideas that may seem unorthodox plot-wise. It's good to be faithful to the game's universe, but also bold and over-the-top, sometimes.

Now, to the Pokémon! Not super-wow'd by starters, but they certainly give a simplistic vibe! That's very good, and I really hope this technotropy is met all through the new Generation. Gotta say I'm very, very pleased to see older Pokémon do appear. I was hoping Generation VI would be a look at the "big picture" of the Pokémon World, and this is a step to the right direction. Black and White's treatment of the whole situation was pretty extreme, so a doze of a good blend of all Pokémon is much needed; the Pokémon world needs not to be so absolutely loyal to such rationalities. As for the Legendaries; breathtaking. I've not be given such a good first impression in years. Mascots of the last three generations were almost like a weird conspiracy... These have grown into me already. Fingers crossed for a really interesting myth behind them.

To the story, not much we can say. It does seem they're, again, going down the traditional direction though. Not to say this was unexpected, although I had (and still have) a hope deep down they will feature alternate ways of setting up the game. In any case we've yet to see how several things are implemented... Changes in the League's regulations that would promote new ways of gameplay are really needed. The villain must also be less streamlined; Team Plasma was a good start, but in the end there were still several clichés... I expect a much better result this time around. But most importantly, I really want to see an open-ended adventure again!... Multiple paths to follow, tons of side-events, alternate goals for the hero... A lot need to be done!

Very positive first impressions, overall! We still have a lot to see, but for now, I must say this seems to be, albeit delayed, a long-awaited evolution to the series. They're radically changing the series's visual perspective for the first time; might as well change its perspective figuratively!

P.S.: Three comments on the naming. 'X' and 'Y' are almost designed to be mocked, if you don't think about them! That said, it's a pretty smart use of the axes, considering this is Pokémon's transition to 3D. But most importantly, in an alternate universe, we've had another Pokémon X... :p

It's just beta. They'll probably fix it up a bir.

With European laws, the game being based on Europe and getting a simultaneous worldwide release I highly doubt this.

I'm going to say I agree with you there. While I am very much hyped and excited about the new generation, at the same time, I'm feeling uneasy about how short Gen 5 was. B2W2 was released in Nov in my country, and even though I got it at the release date, I had only played Black 2 for, what, 2 months? I was getting really attached to Achroma and Team Plasma and the PWT and all - and I feel kinda sad looking at my Black 2 software case. I was hoping for RSE remakes before the announcement began so I wouldn't feel overwhelmed...

Of course I'm happy with Gen 6... but... I can't say that I get a feeling B2W2 were just...something to keep people busy while they prepared this announcement. A mere distraction, and a somewhat less important game. I'm feeling a little sorry for B2W2. All that hype about the B2W2 promo animation had felt it had happened just yesterday... And we're even getting N appearing on TV. Gen 5 was too rushed.

Wow, would not have called France as the basis for Gen VI.

We've finally got a Grass-type starter that isn't a reptile.

That stag Legendary looks boss. Reminds me of the bootlegs of Telefang that tried to make Princess Mononoke's deer god into a legendary Pokemon.

I can't believe the thing is going to be totally done with 3D models.

Worldwide release date? Huh.

That's a bit of an under-reaction.

I'm seriously shaking with excitement right now even as I type. But October 2013? I at least wanted it around my birthday in August. D:

If that was the meaning behind the names, that'd mean the third version (if there is one and not sequels) would be "Pokémon Z". Interesting take.

Re: Pokémon X and Y announced: Iwata reveals plans for Gen VI in Nintendo Direct stre

As much as I love beautiful, 2D sprite work, I can't help but be excited for this. The graphical overhaul will at the least be a change, but I think it's going to look fantastic in motion overall. Starters... the new starters seem very well-designed as well, and the new setting is pretty cool.

And I might be in the minority here, but I thought the names sounded kind of neat when I first saw them. ^^;

Gen. V did feel pretty short, but since the 3DS is still fairly recent, this new generation will likely be longer anyway.

Re: Pokémon X and Y announced: Iwata reveals plans for Gen VI in Nintendo Direct stre

I'm going to bet early here and say the third version will be "Pokemon Z." Called it.
EDIT: Darn, guess I was beat by J J M
