Who is in charge of Bulbanews lately? Nothing about this, and nothing about the Nintendo/DeNA deal either even though it's pretty big news and almost assuredly will involve the Pokemon franchise.

Anyway, this popped up on the Australian rating board:

Not too excited for this based on what it probably is judging by the name. I only played the 3DS version, and found it to be a weekend's-worth of fun, but there are far more interesting spin-offs I'd like to see revisited. But I think kids like it, and I wonder if they'll launch it with actual Amiibo now as opposed to the Amiibo-predecessor Rumble U used that never caught on? Be neat if they ditch the Pokemon Ranch look and utilize normal models.

Where is Pokemon Conquest 2 damn it! Or give us a Fire Emblem x Pokemon game instead actually :(

Sadly not interested in the Rumble stuff, I'm sure there's others that enjoy it though.

Meh. Rumble's got as much interest to me as Shuffle does. I wish we could get something else... Ranger, PMD, even Conquest. Just not this again.

Yeah, these aren't the spinoffs most people want to see. Show me Mystery Dungeon or Ranger or Pokepark or something, just please, no more Rumble.

I'd need to look at the numbers, but I think the Rumble games actually sold pretty well for themselves, probably considering they don't look that expensive to made it's no surprise Nintendo are pushing it more than the more ambitious, expensive spin-offs.

On that same note, I'm pretty sure Shuffle is doing quite well too, perhaps on the back of the strong MM3D and MH4U sales.

It was just confirmed in the Nintendo Direct, it's called Pokemon Rumble World and is releasing on the 3DS eShop. It's a F2P game where you use Poke-Diamonds (obtained either by completing levels, using Streetpass, or purchasing them) to purchase balloons that take you to the different levels. There's over 700 Pokemon in the game, and you can use Mega Evolutions and Primal Reversions.

Not really happy to see another F2P game, but I might actually give this one a try if only because I've never played a Rumble game before.

What's with all of these Pokémon spinoffs being quick, free-to-play non-games? Is Nintendo, TPC and Game Freak really that obsessed with the mobile market? I really hope this is jsut some sort of bad April Fools joke.

I'm indifferent to the game, but I hope it means they have an outlet for that mobile mentality so they can keep it out of our RPGs...

Why am I not surprised that the only Pokemon game revealed at the Nintendo direct was a spin-off, and why am I not surprised that it's another F2P game like Shuffle was, especially a cheap spin-off like the Rumble series. Marilland's "Pokemon Zero and Infinity Version" April Fools gag was a lot more convincing than this, probably because it implied a new main-series game, which is what people want to see.

TPCI is really starting to make me worry about the future of the franchise, especially since it seems like they want to go more for cheap and easy-to-make spin-off games like Rumble and Shuffle as opposed to any of the more interesting or unique spin-offs. Given the controversial statements made by Junichi Masuda involving the development of the Gen 6 games, I am starting to get concerned, as I really don't want more of these mobile style games, especially given how loathed the mobile market is by gamers.

The answer is simple: They're cheap and easy to make, and require no effort whatsoever to make. It's essentially shovelware, where quantity is prioritized over quality, and effort is not needed at all in order to make a quick buck.

If the main-series ever goes F2P, I am quitting the franchise, because I don't want to waste my money with micro-transactions, I have bills to pay and more important stuff to afford than simply gambling away my money with a portable casino like these games are trying to be.

It's another Pokemon Shuffle like thing...

Free to Play, but with limited use

You got to pay money to play more.

I don't do these things... so I won't be playing it like I didn't play Shuffle.

If anything, I would rather pay 20~30 USD to play it unlimited time, any time, any where I want.

Bah. I was annoyed that they are doing this Rumble thing instead, but did they really need to make it another free-to-play? Please stop, whoever's making these decisions, you're making me lose faith in the franchise's future.

I'm so done with Pay 2 Play. Give us back our Mystery Dungeon, our Ranger, our Conquest! SOMETHING GOOD!

I am not getting the game or other spin-off games. I am now focusing on main series games, I am done with spin-offs.

If they can pull off the micro-transactions right I don't care if a game is free to play. Not many games can pull it off, but just because a game is f2p with micro-transactions doesn't mean it's by default a bad game unworthy of playing.

While Nintendo's gems cost more than they're worth, shuffle is not a worse game because of the micro-transactions. You can play through all the puzzle without spending a single dollar and progress just fine. It has a good user experience and a tiny bit of novelty to it compared to most types of match 3 games, so I don't see what the problem with it is.

Hopefully rumble will be the same in that not paying for gems won't make the game painful to play. I've always been a little interested in rumble, but it's always fell on the wayside in favor of saving for a larger more expensive title. Now I'll get to try a rumble style game for free, if I don't like it no harm no foul, if I do, cool, and I didn't have to pay a cent.

I'd rather see a cheap game like rumble over a game I really love like mystery dungeon done cheaply.

no one said the game would be bad to play.

we're just saying it's a bad idea to keep on releasing it as a Micro Transaction especially when it involves the amount of time you get to play the game.

PMD4 confirmed F2P, now you need to pay 1000 Poke to enter a dungeon. Don't have enough? No problem, Duskull's Bank can transfer funds from your RL bank account.

Don't even joke about that. If that happens, I'll slap Junichi Masuda with a smartphone.
