what even is the appeal of yokai watch? seems like it suffers in much the same way as digimon, few instantly recognisable characters. There's way too many introduced at many of them are just re-skins.

Tell me about it. Practically the entire lineup consists of "basic Yo-Kai, evolution, evolution recolor." Not all of them are bad, tho'. At least in my humble opinion.
