The 3DS Successor and its effects on Pokemon

Do you think Switch is the 3DS Successor, and we may get a Pokemon game on it?

  • Yes, Switch is the true successor for Wii U and 3DS, and we're gonna have core games on it.

Battling is also possible. From what people are posting here, it seemed like trading was a major concern.

The GTS is a mess.
People would ask for Arceus in exchange of a Magikarp. If Switch couldn't trade with 3DS, those who play on the Switch would have a hard time trading.

Well, it doesn't matter now. But in theory, Bank could have accommodated actual trading if needed.

It seems that Monster Hunter can handle sending save files from the 3DS to Switch and vice-versa locally, but actual cross-play is done online only.

This could end up being the case for Pokemon. Except there is no reason why the 3DS player wouldn't be able to send their team data to the other player's Switch and use the second controller to battle on that system.

Is it possible to trade pokemon,on between 3DS and Switch?

We don't know cause the Switch doesn't have a Pokémon game yet, so we can't really check :p But it's definitely possible to communicate between the 3DS and Switch, so it should be possible to trade Pokémon between a Switch game and a 3DS game, if the games are compatible to trade with each other that is.

That probably wouldn't be very efficient, it would mean both systems would have to exchange save files simultaneously which could cause even more lag when trading and battling. If this is true, Game Freak won't go for this. They're not going to make the lag worse when people are already complaining about it and they're not going to go for an online only system because they want to emphasize local, face to face communication as they've pointed out multiple times. So this would kill the possibility of cross platform.

No. What I'm saying is that trading would be perfectly normal, while for battling the 3DS player would have their team data sent to the Switch. From that point, they would simply use the Switch controller rather than the 3DS.

Not much of a hassle at all, and there would be no lag.

It most likey Nintendo will announcement an 3ds Successor next year much one of the big reasons beside want to make Pokémon Games for the Switch & they just said they are stoping making Pokémon Games for the 3DS.

Er... they've already announced that they're making a Switch game.

Yeah I highly doubt they will make a successor. I mean they would have to build up that user base also with software

Switch revision is most likely
