Pokémon Evolution/Capture/Release Thread

Despite what Bulbapedia say, none of the released pokemon are comfirmed to be actually released in technical sense, unless their trainer release them from their pokeball, as Paul did, and/or broke the pokeball, like Jessie did. But Poipole's state is dubious: it has no pokeball, since they caught it with an Ultra Ball, a ball designed to be temporary, just like other UBs.
Nah. I think Beast Balls can be used for a more permanent ownership too, it's just that they don't do that with any other Ultra Beast.

You mean a Beast Ball. An Ultra Ball is just a powered up version of the normal Poke Ball.

Charizard probably didn't make an appearance because we get plenty of Charizard with Kiawe's ride pokemon. The Squirtle Squad was probably inserted into the Kanto episode(s) for nostalgia purposes, and well, Kanto. By the next Pokemon series for Gen VIII, whichever Pokemon made an appearance at Oak's lab will become irrelevant.

some of them didn't make any logical sense, just like Brock and Misty getting back to their original outfits didn't make sense. Alola-Muk and regular Marowak that appeared to compare variants, as the same way, was also just to show off.

I’m pretty sure Misty and Brock are capable of wearing old clothes (and technically Brock’s jacket was new as it only had two pockets while his original had 4- this isn’t a retcon either as you can clearly see in the re-animated flashbacks that Brock has 4 pockets)

Squirtle Squad has no business in the laboratory
It wasn't even confirmed to be at the lab. Remember that Rotom basically roamed around Kanto the entire day in an attempt to get photos of all Kanto Pokémon. There's no guarantee that scene even took place at the lab.
Brock doesn't own a Marowak, no one has an Alolan Muk or Alolan Exeggutor.
Remember that Ash isn't the only Trainer who keeps his reserve Pokémon at Oak's. Those Pokémon most likely belong to some other Trainer(s) who store their extra Pokémon at the lab.

Well... the whole anime is non-canon anyways, since it cannot be a thing without the games (The official source material) and they don't exactly follow the gameplay mechanics.
The anime and the games are both canon, but different canons.
They were put in the episode to make old school fans smile, and that was all there for.
Then Misty and Brock too not canon and Alolan squad never actually met them, since they were too here for nostalgia.

Are you implying that Rotom-dex just traveled through Kanto in a few hours?

You cannot have different canons (There is always one Canon/Official source).

Maybe for a bit longer than that, and not necessarily through all of Kanto. Although, I admit, given that Rotom basically said that it was missing only Mew after its grand tour, it's kinda hard to believe that it apparently also managed to see the Legendary birds (not sure about Mewtwo, since its existence is only known by a selected few).
