Official Pokémon Sword and Shield speculation thread (Updated June 5th, 2019)

That makes no sense because you can never see Dialga fight Zacian for example. That basically kills the point of the franchise. How do you know that you have the strongest Charizard if it can only fight other Charizards and can never see a Blastoise?
You didn't get the point. You can't trade zacian to the eventual gen 4 remakes or vice versa. They are stuck in their own versions. Online play would be stuck between the two pairs for example only sword and sheild can play and trade with each other and the gen 4 remakes will only be able to play with their other pair as well but never sword and sheild.

They're only blocking Pokemon that aren't in the Galardex; that plainly implies there will be sequels soon after with an expanded dex like USUM to let old mons thru.
So they are gonna release yet another cashgrab third version with all the content that SwSh should've had from the get go?

What an exciting prospect...

He predicted the demo on the eighth, predicted Banjo Kazooie would be in smash yesterday, and says the Final starters are called Gorumble, Inteleon, and HurrHare
Banjo-Kazooie was highly speculated though and a very popular fan favorite call, as Nintendo even had fun with the Duck Hunt surprise joke. However, considering we already have another leak that says Inteleon too and they technically haven't been wrong about anything, including two new Pokemon being revealed in the demo, I'm gonna say it's probably legit. Gorumble and Hurrhare do sound like feasible enough names for the final evos and not too simple or weird for GameFreak.

The name of Scorbunny’s final evo is called Raboot according to the 4chan leak which was proven true. So this guy is fake.

And banjo kazooie was already leaked before hand on resetera.

This guy probably just posted a bunch of random predictions and deleted the ones that didn’t pan out.
I think Raboot is the second one in the line, if I recall correctly the leaker said he didn't remember scorbunny final evolution name but It will become humanoid...

That's what I'm saying, though. It kills the idea of Pokemon as a shared universe/continuity and makes them into separate, unrelated franchises.

Nessa has already began to show pics, as predicted would happen. It pretty much reminds me of this...

Sonic Team Employee: Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you... Shade. New Female Sonic character, without clothes on for a change.

Sonic Team Executives: Oh my! That is splendid! Marvellous!

Little did they know was that the scene was being spied on by a nerd in his room via a camera.

Nerd: OMG! They've introduced a new Sonic character. I Must... Draw... Porn of it!

Do you think maybe they are just barring transfers of non-Galar dex pokemon for a certain period of time after the release? (kinda like Pokemon Bank and USUM). I know that pokemon Home is supposed to be launched in early 2020, so maybe they will open it up then? I'm just trying to be hopeful because I really can't see why (other than a large number of new pokemon) that they would bar some pokemon from being transferred. Has this ever happened before in an older generation game?

Edit: Disregard the part about pokemon Home, I just read Serebii's front page and it looks like the barring of older pokemon is apart of Home's funcitonality.

If they left out Blastoise and Venusaur and gen 2 starters, I'm gonna be mad. There's already a champion with charizard. It has two megas. We are in gen 8 and still this charmender stupid love? Stop Charizard for God's sake. Why not the first champion with a gygantamaxed Meganiun, considering that in Galar people like big plants?

I'm fairly sure Leon's Charizard is just a placeholder. There's no way his ace Pokémon is not a Galarian one.

They even showcased Steven with a Mega Charizard X during pre-release ORAS only to wait longer for a Mega Metagross announcement:

This stuff didn't start happening till Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, which as many of us predicted, heralded the idea that only the original 151 Pokemon are useful/matter to GF and the other 700 can be turned into trash at any time by GameFreak.

From the comments, it sounds like they're not banned but programmed into the game, but literally not programmed into Sword and Shield. Which means that there's no switch to flip (forgive the pun) that will make them easily available after Home launches.

That’s not going to work with the competitive side of Pokémon, in the VGC.

I get the hate and disappointment for the news, and there are chances that it’s as worse as it sounds, but there are also chances the dex simple gets updated once the Gen 4 remakes came out, for Galar as well.

Tell me that isn't exactly what it is though. If chimchar isn't in the galar dex, but diamind and pearl get remade, how am I going to trade it to swsh if only galar dex pokemon can be in it? At best You could trade pokemon that cross dexes such as lucario who we see in galar and is of course in sinnoh

Did they give a reason for this? or was it just kinda they mentioned it and didn't say much else.

Can someone PLEASE link to the leak (the one with a corgi, and nessa's gym, etc) that everyone has been talking about?

They said it would take too much time to update the graphics.

Then Pokemon is officially dead. God help you if your favorite Pokemon isn't a genwun because it's trash to GameFreak now. Considering this, I'm surprised any non G1 Pokemon is being shown in any Pokemon media like Detective Pikachu and the like.

Since I'm not the biggest Mario fan, what happened with Super Mario Maker 2 since people keep bringing it up?
During the Mario Maker press event, someone told Gamexplain that there was only local co-op multiplayer. It got out of hand.

Mario Maker 2 is much easier too patch than update 500 other Pokemon in SwSh graphics, so you cannot even compare them.
Who's to say the models aren't even in there already, though? I mean Sun and Moon had every single Refresh model, fighting model, and the walking Pokemon in there. 800+ of those were never used.

If so then I wanted another placeholder. A meganium placeholder. -.-

Simply , they’re going to update the Galar dex, because they’d have the new model ready.

What they said are the plans for now. There’s no reason to talk about what will happen with a remake of Gen 4. Granted, the most negative outcome is possible, but it’s not the only one.
