Gen 8 Movepool Update Speculation Thread

Seeing as Duraludon gets the option of either Heavy Metal or Light Metal, Heavy Slam should certainly be in its movepool.

Gravity? Interesting would be its support during double battles.
I hope that with that charging horn it will at least get Parabolic charge and Magnet Rise.

Wouldn't be all that viable to have, cause even with Heavy Metal it only becomes 176 lbs. It can only do so much compared to some pokemon
I’m p sure their point was it looked like it could learn it; not that it was viable.
Dragon/steel? Would want rather physical coverage.
What type of coverage it wants is far more dependent on its stats than its typing. They made a big deal out of highlighting this new move it gets with the naming contest, and it’s a Special move which is leading people to believe Duraludon will be a Special Attacker.

Should be but even pikachu has physical coverage... Charizard, primarina, sceptile all got some physical coverage. A move like arm thrust would be good with it.

What coverage it gets and what coverage it wants are two totally different things. But, yes, most Pokémon get a mix of physical and special moves

Should. People are too much using pokemons like one side canons for their best stats. Hope there will be pokes immune to the specters of category. This would make havoc in many perfect teams.

Why should someone use physical coverage when the physical attack stat of the Pokémon is so low that the Super Effectiveness boost won’t matter?

When he meets a oponent or team that is strong in sp. Def, has light screen but is very weak in defence? Or when it meets a pokemon immune to special attacks?

First of all, if you’re using a coverage move then you’re likely weak to the opponent’s STAB.
So, you just send out your Pokemon in a situation where it is weak to the opponent with set up screens. You’ll be better off switching since the opponent will just survive the coverage because the physical move’s damage will be low, and then it’ll make your Pokemon faint.

Or when it meets a pokemon immune to special attacks?
Not relevant because such a Pokemon doesn’t exist. The discussion would be relevant if and only if such a Pokemon exists.

It should exist.

If could make a move accessible to a type of would be Earth Power to Grass type Pokemon. Grass moves are resisted by 7 types and most special attacking Pokemon have no coverage options outside of the secondary typing so they need all the help they can get

Infestation for Yamper, Grookey, Woolooo and Scorchbunny?
Grookey for sure should get it and Fake Out.

Togekiss should really get access to moonblast.

120 Base Sp. Atk with that SG (60% lower opp. Sp.Atk) and it'd be a super nice STAB move that can be Nasty Plot-boosted.

Also, Yamper should get Baby Doll Eyes. No reason in competitive, I just think it looks super cute hehe.

Duradulon and Gravity? Though about it and would work nicely if it gets ground type moves.

I know it's dragon/steel but looks like it should learn dig actually.

Yamper with dig, roar, infestation and water pulse would be interesting.

I will never say no to another Perish Song User. We need more of 'em anyways

only Celebi as a grass type right now.
Would be perfect situtation.
There should be more of other types.

Weird that Meganium didnt got it, actually has only 2 sound moves.

Grookey as a monkey will get Encore? Torment? Taunt?
(would wish Chespin would got it too, maybe Scorcbunny could too?)

Eldegoss may get Polen Puff and Powder, that would cool and make sense too.
