Pokémon Sword and Shield anime speculation thread

Okay here are my hopes for the SWSH anime:
  • The art style be the same as Sun and Moon, maybe a bit more serious and more 3d backgrounds
  • Ash will travel with Hop and the female protagonist and with either Lillie or Sonia*
  • Either Lillie or Sonia will have the goal to become a Pokemon Professor
  • The female protagonist and Hop will have the same goal as Ash and battle Gyms Pokemon Masters style
  • Marnie and Bede will be Ash's rivals (outside of his group)
  • Bede will be an asshole to Ash and his friends but in a "comedic" tone, like Gary
  • Marnie will be Ash's frenemy, and she is kinda antagonistic to him, just not cruel. She does learn to respect Ash.
  • Ash will get Scorbunny
  • Hop will get Grookey'
  • The female protagonist will get Sobble
  • Serena will return
  • The sun and moon gang (hopefully separately) will return
  • Iris will return (very unlikely I know)
  • Rotom Dex (or phone now I guess) will be less annoying
  • Lillie or Sonia will get Morpeko
  • The show will have a comedic tone, but it does get serious when it needs to be and it is not over the top and in places where it does not belong
and that is all I can think for now

*I am torn on which I would like more, for Lillie, I feel like there is potential with her character to develop into a clever intellectual trainer that we saw a glimpse of that in Sun and Moon (for example her double battle with Gladion), but it was not well elaborated on IMO. As for Sonia, it would just be more relevant to the region for her to be included and also apparently she has a past with the Champion Leon and she would be a strong trainer out of the gate (like Kiawe) which would be interesting.

Yes, thank you. That's what I liked to hear. What I've put in is just if we have to go down the starter pattern thing.

Honestly I just made that since we are almost arriving at Gen 5's 10th anniversary.

Ironic, SwSh anime would come out 10 years after the Team Galactic Arc in Diamond and Pearl.

I don't think you fully understood my post. There is no pattern with the starters.

I don't think that Hop will be a companion. They've never had two Gym challengers on the main cast on the same time, and that is because GF would have to show all the non-version exclusive Gym Leaders being battled twice.

In Gen 5, Iris is an exclusive Dragon Type Gym Leader (Eighth) to Pokemon White and Champion in B2W2, whilst Cilan is the first Grass Type Gym Leader you face if you pick Oshowatt. Otherwise it's his brothers who are Water and Fire.

Just as a reminder to get some ideas.

Ash fights Allister, while Bede, Marnie or Hop fights Bea so we can have more gym battles without Ash as the challenger.

Problem solved.

Or three people battle together like in Masters. What they could do is have the Gym leader's pokemon dynmaxed and the three trainers battling it togehter

I'd actually be all for that. It would allow both leaders to be represented without being repetitive.

The only question is how would they execute that? Since in an all technical sense, Bea and Allister are leader of the same gym, would there be two gym stadiums in that city in the anime? Or would it be one gym and they simply rotate the position of leader? That's actually interesting to think about.

It'll probably be just like BW where Iris is with Ash whilst the Black exclusive ran the Gym.

Same thing could probably happen with Bea joining Ash, whilst Allister ran the Gym.

Gym Leaders thus far that joined Ash (excluding Sun and Moon)

Brock (Rock), Misty (Water), Iris (Dragon), Cilan (Grass), Clemont (Electric)... So having Bea who is a Fighting Type would spice things up for Ash's Companion. Although the other Gym Leaders are yet to be revealed. So perhaps also a Fire Type Gym Leader as well maybe?

But in that case, both Iris and Drayden were dragon-type specialists. It was easy for them to be interchangeable. They also pretty much avoided that whole situation by having Ash battle neither of them :p

If both Bea and Allister were to be gym leaders of the same city at the same time (neither traveling with Ash), they'd either need to share one purple and orange stadium or the city would need to have 1 stadium for each.

What if Ash gets a Grookey this time round? Since Gen 4 Ash has always had a specific parth for his starters, being a proper fully-evolved one then having two, once non-evolved and one making it into its middle evolution stage, then repeat.

Not sure about Grookey at the moment, would like to find out more about it but I definitely like Scorbunny as it has potential

Here's something that hit me: Morpeko is caught by Team Rocket, or or is a recurring Pokemon that gives them trouble.

After all, it's somewhat fitting given how they have trouble getting something to eat.
It also works with them going from a Pokemon that kept them fed to a one that'll beat the crap out of them if they don't feed it. ;)

Tbh, I do not like the bad guy twist theme the crew are now going down. If done once, that's amazing. Done twice, that's annoying. Sure, the evil teams were getting repetitive by Gen 6, but there's something about them that makes Pokemon unique.

There's always this saying...

Fooled once, shame on you. Fooled twice, shame on me. Fooled three times, then you know that you're only fooling yourself.

It's just how you play the cards at the end of the day, and because of the state of the world now, we have to play safe, and the results are always poor.
