Satoshi's opponent in "Pokemon World Championships" is Kalos Big Four member Dracaena, who is 12th in Hyper Class. She looks kind at first glance, but her fighting skills are super radical. Satoshi challenges the Dragon-type specialist with the powered-up Negigaknight and Uonoragon! But can Satoshi defeat such a strong enemy? After reuniting with Citron and Eureka, brother and sister, who once traveled together in the Kalos region, and after special training with them, Satoshi will be able to see what kind of battle he shows against the Kalos Big Four member Dracena..

Airdate: April 1st (part of a one hour special with JN103)

2v2 battle with Ash using Sirfetch'd and Dracovish, and Drasna using (Mega) Altaria and Noivern.

How interesting! I didn't see Drasna appearing in the anime after she was notably left out in Kalos and Ash having her ace Pokémon as one of his own; but now she's getting Mega Altaria, which will be wonderful to see fight. So that's awesome she'll not only be making an appearance, but will most likely be the first Elite Four member Ash will have ever defeated in battle. Sirknight and Dracovish getting wins here will be nice, though I do wish we'd have more screentime and development for the latter to reach this point. Then again, Dracovish being adept at battling right after being created is just like the games, so...

I get if Dragonite battling here seeing as it’s already beaten a champions ace but seeing Dracovish and Sirfetch’d probably beating an E4 member when barely trained, Dracovish especially, is alarming.
Ash’s Dracovish/Ash’s Sirfetch’d>Ash’s Ash-Greninja
Can’t wait to see Drasna here just to loose. It’s a shame cause she’s such a nice character and I’m excited to have her debut but not just for Ash fodder...

I agree. Something tells me Dracovish will get the Gengar treatment with a pair of brand new moves out of nowhere and some quick exposition that Ash has been training with Dracovish off-screen. That, or it gets another one-shot before Sirfetch'd cinches the win.

Speaking of Ash-Greninja, I'm getting flashbacks to Alain given the presence of Dragons and the Lumiose Conference field being featured again  Hopefully we don't hear a single DORAGON CLAW. :X3:

Dracovish has still only shown three moves (Water Gun, Ice Fang, and Fishious Rend), so at most, I'd expect it to have learned a fourth move and maybe upgraded Water Gun into Hydro Pump.

I'm also wondering if Ash will use a Z-Move here (possibly Corkscrew Crash if Dracovish's fourth move is Iron Head), since he can't use any gimmicks otherwise (Sirfetch'd and Dracovish don't have Mega Evolutions, and they aren't in Galar so Dynamax isn't available)

Mega Altaria is an odd choice considering Lisia is slated to appear. A Mega 'Mence + Dragalge pair would have worked if the concern was type redundancy.

The summary for 103 makes it sound like Sirfetch'd will get star status after learning Meteor Assault.
Salamence could have worked, but Dragalge has the problem of being confined to water.

Lisia probably just won't Mega Evolve her Altaria.

Mayhap not too odd given how they both have Altaria in the games, and it is the only Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution for Drasna in said games; the fan adaptions of giving the Kalos Elite Four Mega Evolved Pokémon is coming true after all, hehe. We've also had notable people appear in the anime with the same species of Pokémon (ex. Dawn's Piplup, Kenny's Prinplup -> Empoleon, and Barry's Empoleon), so it's not too outlandish a concept.

I agree with Rath that they'll probably not have Lisia Mega Evolve hers. And if anything, Altaria footage here can be reused later on for Lisia if need be.

Ash barely uses Sirfetch'd, Sirfetch'd defeats an E4 level Mega. Sirfetch'd be like: Move aside Greninja and Lucario, imma not needing a Mega evolution power-up to defeat one, so i am clearly stronger than both of you, especially since i have a type disadvantage.
Dragonite and Pikachu: Welcome to the party Sirfetch'd.

Also yay Drasna. Now all the Kalos E4 members have appeared.

Not gonna lie, I'd be okay with Ash losing to Drasna here. I mean, Dracovish and Sirfetch'd hardly get any spotlight and they've never been shown training, but then again, that's Journey's tell don't show problem for you. While Dracovish has stood toe to toe with a Champion's Pokemon, Sirfetch'd hasn't done anything to convince me he can handle Drasna, and part of the writer's problem is they've forced him to job frequently.

Awesome! I'm so glad that these episodes are confirmed real! Also, based on the background of various pictures of Drasna (the corridor and the battlefield itself), it seems that Ash will be battling her in the stadium for the Lumiose Conference. Nice bit of continuity there; for all the flaws of JN, they usually do well on continuity fanservice.

This looks awesome imo
  • Hyper class again
  • Battling E4 member finally
  • Game character who hasn't debuted in the anime yet
  • Using both Sirfetch'd AND Dracovish

Wonder what the 'power-ups' are, new moves perhaps?

While I'm glad Ash gets to fight (and probably beat) an Elite 4 member, I'm just wondering where the rest of these guys are.

Also you bet I'm popping off that my boy gets to slay some new victims lol

I'll forgive him losing to Hawlucha if he wins here

My my, all the neglected are getting a time under the spotlight, huh?

Frankly, Mega Altaria is a terrible matchup for both Sir and Dracovish, so let’s see how this will play out.

Dracovish: Is me knowing Ice Fang a joke or something?

Sirfetch'd be like : Finally ! I will have my revenge ! After getting jobbed against a Gym Leader just so Lucario could snag the win in an impossible matchup... just so that damn Pikachu could get another win... WELL I CAN DEFEAT A ELITE 4 MEMEBER WITHOUT A POWERUP ! I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY DOING THAT !
Dragonite in background : Uh boys... I could defeat a CHAMPION without a powerup...

Anyway, Ash HAS to be using a Z-Move . None of them can Mega evolve and Dmax is only for galar . Lest they pull a Satoshi-Gekkouga and have Dracovish or Sirfetch'd get a special power up, which is highly unlikely .
