  • Again, he probably would have found a way. To be honest, I don't even remember what Anastasiya did.
...But all that aside, I think it'd be viable for Daz to pop up as a mini-boss about as frequently as Bowser does in TTYD. That is, in Chapter 3, in Chapter 8, and, I think Chapter 6 or thereabouts. Of course, Daz need not stick to those exact times, but you get my point.
True, but I don't think I've ever seen him truly helpless or without hope.

It could be argued that he never defeated Wes because he was a rookie at the time, or that it was a simple case of Wes being the greater force of good that he was morally obliged to beat Daz. As for the warehouse, I doubt he would have been trapped permanently. He's Daz. He'd think of a way out. And on Corsair's part...He probably could. Midnight getting a headshot on the bastard just saved him the time and effort of doing it himself.
Who, besides Middy, though, would be able to say no to a flirty Dutch thief with an attractive body, a seductive personality and...Well, to put it bluntly, dat rack? Long story short, that's not quite what I mean.
Hey, he's not necessarily a Marty Stu. It'd be nice to see one or two shortcomings on his part now and then, so he doesn't seem so untouchably godmodded, but otherwise, he's fine.
...No, I think he'd work much better as a boss/mid-boss, even if it is kind of Meta-Knight stylie. Like, he fully heals you (like how Meta Knight always gives Kirby a sword before fighting) then challenges the protagonist, who I assume is going to be Wes, to make sure he's ready for the area to come.

Plus, I've detailed before, all the evidence that backs up my Marty Wes theory.
Well, what would his field ability be? And, being as it is that he's effectively Wes' Marty Stu, wouldn't his attacks be more broken than Midnight's original set?
I do. And it wouldn't make sense to have both Cyril and Raku, and kick Knuckles out. I wouldn't be able to justify having two book-world characters.
Perhaps I ought to just redesign the puzzles I had in mind for that chapter and just go with Cyril. I'd be in favour of Raku, but Knuckles already seems like a viable partner, so he wouldn't need changing, and Raku is kind of another him in terms of abilities.
I'll come back to that idea, I think.

Meanwhile, considering Chapter 6 was to take place inside the book, maybe Cyril could be a party member in place of the Great Djinn? As far as invisibility and invulerability go, he's the ideal candidate. The problem is, chameleon invisibility isn't quite the same as ghost invisibility, turning sideways onto a different plane, or straight-up disappearing into the shadows...
I'd want to at least keep his first three moves. Maybe he could keep Bullet Time-- albeit a bit watered-down (as in, no stat buffs/nerfs)-- in the mid-boss fight with him, but then have his Ultra Rank move something different? I'm not sure what, though. Maybe make the cube attack Ultra and have a different Super Rank attack?
    ...Ohhhhhh. ...No.

Wouldn't a move based on blowing the enemies be better suited to Middy? Oh, I totally did not just go there.
Much planning is to be done. And any suggestions at present would be pretty jävla welcome.
Of course, if we are going to overhaul the thing, I'd need to, sooner or later, make Midnight a lot less broken as a party member...
I think, between us-- that is, with your input-- we could redesign it into something viable. Who knows? Maybe, between that and the fighting game, we could actually get a fighting chance at launching the franchise for actual realz.

    ...Well, I can dream, can't I?
A thought I did have literally just after sending that last VM is perhaps having another universe. I don't really want to make yet another TEE mish-mash universe, bearing in mind the fates of the Panem Universe, the Kanto Universe and the Seaway Universe, but then again, this would be for the purposes of adjusting and modernising a game, rather than to be a written instalment for you to never post in.

...Of course, the individual chapters, considering the nature of the Paper Mario games and TEE as a series, could be more or less interchangeable with EEAs and ATEEs-- hence why Chapter 3 transitioned so well into TLT.
Agreed. I kind of do want a game like that, but because of the vast changes, I more or less consider the whole thing already scrapped. So many things would need changing that it boggles the mind. I still want Neptune Midnight to be a party member rather than the main protagonist, and the only other eligible protagonist would be Wes, but he's from another world. There are so many variables in how it could be rectified, making it so mammoth a task that I wouldn't even know where to begin.
