  • Nein. Catridge (obviously) + console + connection.

..At the very least, that's my experience of it. Maybe I'm wrong about the connection, but I swear that has affected my codes before.
Well, the information they give in each Pokémon game from D/P onwards is that your FC represents which cartridge you use in which console, and which internet access point. If any one of those three variables change, your FC gets re-randomised.
...You're right. So I'll just cut to the chase. YARL--*interrupts self to shoot you with a nudifying gun*
The point is, a lot of modern music from the English-speaking western world sucks. Also Loreen. She is equally terrible. Her music is bad and she should feel bad.

    ...She also brutally raped ESC2012.
...I don't much care for the modern music of the UK and North America. ...Unless it's Lights. Or Your Favorite Martian. Or Adele.
...I have no idea what you're quoting or what point you're trying to make, but nevertheless: *total self-nudification*
    Um...So...I'm suddenly reminded of C-x-C.

Dayumn, you can be efficient when you want to be...
    ...Such...fun..?

Keep trying with the codes, anyway. And here's an idea: to save time, you can get to registering my codes in your...whatever-it's-called...You know, the thing where you store other people's FCs...
    *Luminescent Blush*

I think it's unique to the Pokémon games. Either that, or just any game that uses Friend Codes apart from the consoles themselves (that is, Wiis and 3DSs).
*Kenny so hard my trousers fall down again*

I think 3DSs can support more types of connection, but as for any model of regular DS, I'm not so sure. But regardless: your FC changes depending on what you connect to the internet via. If you use connection A to get your codes, then log in using connection B, your FCs will change. If you use connection A again thereafter, your codes will change again, to yet another different combination.
