  • Lovely and derpish, all in one unique package.

And receiving that mask from the boss of the temple has given me an idea- and this is just an idea, but do hear it out. So the Echidna Mask is the second mask of Ciella Island, and it's gained by healing the soul of the dying Kristen. Well, what if the reason that she is dying is because Team Gemini beat her in battle, as a result of her challenging them through her overprotective paranoia, paralleling Knuckles'.
And now for something completely different.

Refresh my memory: what are SoN and TMN based on?

No, I wrote that entire essay-rant because I disagree with my own opinions and love the crap that the series has been turned into.
I think the Legend trilogy would have been much better as a separate series, and I place them at the high point of the series' decline, personally. The way I see it, the series began to become bad when Enter the Dragonfly was pushed for a Christmas release, making it short, glitchy, and with Loads And Loads Of Loading, making it an Obvious Beta. From there, perhaps the developers became disillusioned, believing that they simply couldn't keep the series the way it was because they couldn't make a decent game in a restricted time frame, allowing for the likes of Hero's Tail to appear and change the field up a little, and the start of the decline. A New Beginning was, for me, too far-removed from the rest of the series to be considered 'true Spyro', but it was an okay game. All the ones that followed...No. Just no. Same goes for the joke that was Shadow Legacy. And Skylanders? Again, should have been a completely separate series, in my view.

tl;dr Enter the Dragonfly's restricted development window screwed the whole series over.
