Not gonna lie, I have no clue how much damage Smogsplosion should be doing. I was going to do Smog damage + that of the attack used to start it, but it seemed too low in most situations.

Do HM moves fall under TM and tutor moves?

So can I get a clarification on movepool restrictions? We can use any move that the pokemon can naturally use without the aid of a TM, right?

I'd be correct in assuming that even though it's a special attack, Octazooka can not get in the eyes of an etheral ghost due to them still not being solid, right?

I do think that Contests can really benefit from roleplaying, especially since it practically is an event based on creativity and innovation.

Pokethlon does seem more like a numbers/mechanics systems though. There are stats, sort of, and that forms the base for the touch and tap games we see in HGSS. You're right in that it's pretty hard to adapt the games directly, but it is possible to emulate them in some manner, perhaps using a mechanics system.

I suppose the trick then, would be to develop something that is both interesting and challenging.
