No not really, my dad was slightly, but not A LOT, he still liked the movie VERY MUCH, I was not disappointed, I had the same reaction to it as you had.
Note this. Below image is a coffin that appeared in Alien. It wasn't further explored on. Upper image is from Prometheus and the Engineer awakes from it. Cool huh? The engineer coffin was already in Alien.
The ship that the Engineer commanded and was destroyed by Elba and co also appears in Alien, I always call it the sausage ship because it looks like a horseshoe sausage.
Yes, that was an Xenomorph-lookalike, but it wasn't a full Xenomorph. It's difficult to explain. See, Xenomorphs can reproduce through other beings. They impregnate them and a Chestburster appears who evolves into a Xenomorph. The most iconic Xenomorph are the spawn after having impregnated humans. The Xenomorph in Prometheus was spawned from an Engineer, and thus looks different than a human-spawn Xenomorph.
The moon in Prometheus is called LV-233. The moon in Alien and Aliens is called LV-426. They are moons at the same planet. This is just 1 connection between Prometheus and Alien.
The ending scene was AWESOME, the movie really ended on a HORRIFYING NOTE, what is that thing, why does it resemble a Xenomorph but not 100% REALLY COOL, my dad and I were like WHAT THE.....................AWESOME
I also hope Prometheus stirred your interest to see Alien and Aliens, although they are VERY different in a way to Prometheus, they are more action-packed (although Prometheus was already action-packed) and focus more on the aliens.
