I think the anime would have been fine if starting with Hoenn, they had started fresh with new main characters every generations...

Also to add, everybody else didn't have teammates from the sidelines telling them what to do. It's amazing Ash had gotten that far in the league...

I don't really know. I always thought that given planning, they could have had Ash win the Johto league, thus ending his saga. Then with Hoenn onward, we use either the male or female protagonist for each saga...

How come pokemon like Pichu and Smoochum weren't in Kanto...

They really should have ended Ash's story after Kohto...

To me, it's not a question of if they should be in the next saga; it's what the writers do with the characters that intrigues me...

So a Jynx can be gender less then?

Was it ever referred to as male as a Charmander or Charmeleon?

So I guess Misty's Psyduck is unknown gender, as is Brock Geodude?

I think it saves space or something....

The same reason Bulk & Skull were in nearly every episode between MMPR to In Space..

I know for rugrats, they listed every main character/side character and who voiced who in every episode...
