  • I've done nothing but homework and awards stuff for the past week. Looking forward to finally getting some writing done this weekend. What have you been up to?
Galactic contributes more to bringing the characters together, but the message/point/themes behind 8ES and what will eventually happen to Alaska is going to be significant in shaping the characters who do appear in that. And I do have plans for a Johto and Hoenn series, but like most of the GVerse, I have no idea when or if I will write these.
SO I'M ALIVE NOW, and I am so proud of you for trying affogato. I actually haven't tried it myself yet-- I ought to buy some ice cream and make some myself tonight.

Sometimes I listen to professors teaching and think man, it would be awesome to be a professor. The research part would be really hard, but teaching at that level would be amazing.

I'm probably not exaggerating. I should take a photo of my planner just for you.

    Oh noooo! No hablo espanol!
That makes sense - 20 is a great age - I guess I'll be amongst the young ones. Maybe one day I'll go into a rp and use spoon manipulation - because I never leave home without them ;) do you know any silly powers?
Good lord, that sounded like you were thinking about it. I was just goading you xD You have a most active imagination, you know that? Go back to Chapter Three, you can read about her taking a shower xD Nothing like a bit of mutual embarrassment between cousins, eh?
It's more that tortured people have a very high probability of telling people what they think they want to hear. For example, there was a big scare in Japan at the end of WWII because all of the captured (and uninformed) American servicemen they captured and tortured kept telling them that, yes, America was going to nuke Tokyo eventually.

The political issue is that the place where we do the torturing is still operational and while Obama wants to close it, Congress has increasingly come out and tried to block his ability to do so. Additionally, war crimes charges pressed on high level political figures would be nearly unprecedented in America and politically very risky. Not being in the ICC also limits the international community's ability to do anything about it. So... not much that can be done.
So I hear! Go on Flaze, you can put my theory to the test ;) Hmm ... just the white armband then. Other than that it's regular Eve I'm afraid, Flazy-boy. *takes a brief look* Well, you managed to more or less restrain yourself xD
Zero Dark Thirty caught a lot of crap for portraying waterboarding as helping in that particular case—it didn't. All US intelligence that led to the raid was obtained through conventional intelligence or interrogation. But, yes, stuff like that. We actually released a whole report on it commonly referred to as "The Senate Torture Report." It's not exactly a pretty or easy read, but if you can find a summary online that might help give you an idea.
I wonder if there might be a different attitude towards a better-crafted and less ... well, pornographic lemon. No, damnit xD I'll shy away from real fanservice if it means keeping my authorial pride. Y'know, it probably says a lot that the first thing I thought was "But Eve isn't allowed to wear the full uniform" You did not! I don't believe you
It's a good enough podcast, I guess. I wouldn't know how relatively good it is since it's only the second one I've ever followed.

Torture is a big deal in modern US politics since we kind of just stopped denying we did it. Now there are major questions about whether the CIA should keep doing it or whether or not there should be prosecutions over the war crimes we committed.
You could always post under a pseudonym, as long as you don't mind people pestering you to see it anyway *innocent look* Fanservice is it then, after a fashion. You will note, however, that I haven't touched utilised the "Sexy Nurse" trope at all. I have my pride xD
Oh, I know you'll never cross to the dark side of fanfiction ;) Huh ... I don't remember that. I was rather thinking of Eleven and Sixteen, to be honest xD There's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it sexual reference in Eleven, during the second scene. I don't know, can you call it fanservice at all if it's very much part of the story? Or subtle, for that matter
I think it would have a lot more resonance for an American since at least half the appeal of it comes from the never explicitly mentioned but still present specter of "beyond a reasonable doubt," the standard to convict in America, where many reasonable doubts remain and a person was still convicted with a life sentence. So basically the lofty ideals of the American justice system are examined and then concluded to be mere a myth.

Occasionally... but rarely for good. Extended solitary confinement is most infamous for breaking the sanity of prisoners, but even that isn't ensured to do so.
I only vaguely remember that scene. I did wonder once how Reggie manages to get through it, being so easily embarrassed by Miko. Which ones did you spot? I'm beginning to wonder if they've all been going over reader's heads
That's a bit of an odd reaction

Claudia's too adorable to be used as cheap fanservice, anyway. Don't you dare give us a detailed description of her butt. Well, yes, Evelina!Ninetales is the most obvious one. And I suppose the dream-sequence, after a fashion, though I managed to annoy you with that xD If you look carefully you could spot another couple between Eleven and Sixteen

    Blast. I'd forgotten I hadn't done that
Yeah, but as for favourites ... I don't really feel strongly enough to call any of them a favourite

I have no idea where I'd even start with female fanservice. With the guys I've learned the language, so to speak xD Besides, I find it rather more fun to figure out ways to have fanservicey moments act as perfectly good plot points

    *walks round roadblock*
That starts next week. Now I'm just listening to the podcast "serial" as homework.

Torture does different things to different people in the real world, but is now used as more of a means to make a point or break someone down than actually getting information. It's really bad at doing that, actually. I've dealt with two characters who have undergone something comparable to torture in trauma. One just broke and stopped giving a crap about much of anything while the other didn't necessarily become more evil but their fears and hatreds shifted and amplified.
Well, to be honest most canon character aren't much more than sketches of characters

And one great big "Haha, no boobs for you!" at your fans. I did see it, you kept that one quiet

It depends whether I hit any more roadblocks >_<
Intermediate Microeconomics, Introduction to Marine Biology, a seminar on law and social issues, and introduction to chemistry.

I am curious how one goes from "Screw you, I just want to know what that does," to "Everyone in the city needs to die right now." It seems like an odd transformation to make in the span of a chapter or so. And, eh, mental illness is a thing I guess but I'm not a huge fan of using it to justify villains. Most people with the illnesses are relatively normal but the media has kind of demonized them.
You know, I don't really think I have a favourite canon character

Haha, yes, see, it's fun to disappoint your fans! Well, now I say that it might well be that a good portion of your fanbase would be all for the stripping boys

I'd like to get it finished within the next couple of weeks
