Bad in the sense that I still haven't decided on a career path to take. The actual classes I've taken, not so bad. In general. (Economy was so bleh. Useful, but boring.)
Yours?
I did a lot of that for Backgrounds and after the challenge of writing a protagonist with a lot of things wrong with them, decided to stay away from conventional disorders for a while. It's rather hard trying to write illness respectfully and realistically.
The absolute closest I have ever come to self-insertion (in a major role) was Gela's arc in Backgrounds, where she ended up with more or less my sense of humor (which is why I got kind of pissed when people said that no one could make those kind of jokes on the spot in real life or be that sarcastic—I wrote those in with no prior planning while working on the first draft) and I used some of my experiences with chronic depression and insomnia in writing the arc. I mean, there's no way that you could look at that and call it a self-insert fic but it's about as close as I will ever get to making one.
I suppose that if GameVerse has a problem it's how easy it is to just write a terrible self-insert fic because of the lack of protagonist character. Just go "yup, that avatar looks different and is me and I do stuff." It's also more than a tad unrealistic as one of the straightest examples of the kid hero thing and one with the least amount of explanation.
Yes. But I always forgive everyone. :C I'm too nice sometimes.
Okay, yay! The name that shows up on the message screen is even weirder ("krisb chicken nugget"). And my profile pic is of a bird standing on my head. :C
Out of every single fandom I've encountered, the Pokemon game-verse has the single most possibilities to play with that I've seen. There isn't much of a canon storyline, barely anything is explained, and it would be hard to write a really ooc character since there isn't much character to work with for the most part. The world itself is also rather complex and just... ugh. But people go with arguably the worst of the three verses and write terrible canon-centric stories. I suppose its worse here than normal because the anime will refuse to settle on a pairing, giving shippers absolute free reign without even having to mess too much with canon.
