Wow. I'm not sure what level of jest that message was meant to be working at, it was either:
1) Incredibly witty.
2) Fairly witty.
3) Fairly bigoted.
4) Fairly ignorant.
5) Any combination of the above.
Of course men can be secretaries - is that a joke? Anyway, I'm not a secretary, I'm a 'social secretary', which in spite of sounding similar, is actually totally different, it's essentially my job to organise all of the events that take place on the debating calendar (parties and meals etc.). We do have a secretary though and our secretary is a man.
I think you'll find almost every politician follows it, although more so in the UK than the US, I believe, so it may not be as big an issue for you as it is for me. Anyway, it remains an issue as long as it affects people in some way or another, which it certainly does.
It's not so much that it's hard but very time consuming. There's suddenly a lot to do. Basically, the way Uni works in the UK is that the first year doesn't count towards your final grade (it's basically just there to make sure everyone is at the same stage to start the real work), the second year is ~40% of your final grade and the third year is ~60%.
I've just started my second year this October and I've just got so much more work than last year. Although, I might not have that much more work - it might just be that I'm actually doing it!
Also, I'm the Social Secretary for Debating Society, which is harder work than it sounds and I'm writing an article on political correctness for the Uni newspaper. So much work! :|
I guess once you've worked that much on a universe, there ends up not being a lot of wiggle room. My one shot for the Travelsverse is alright though, it's about Team Rocket so I just got him to give me a detailed history of the Travelsverse Team Rocket and I thought of something that could fit around it.
I haven't caught up with it yet but it's a work in progress. I'm shitting busy at the moment, I'm afraid.
If you're sure you can make it work, then you're free to go for it I just wanted to make sure. Oh, and this goes for anyone who wants to officially write something in the Rivalverse, but I want you to send me every chapter for beta-reading before it's posted please.
If you can do it well and it depends which one it is.
I don't mean to be rude or anything but I think you should think about why you want to write this. Is it just so you can write something for the Rivalverse? If so, is it really that good an idea to write it? If you want to write something about Wally, go ahead, but you don't have to set it in the Rivalverse just for the sake of it, you know.
I'm just saying this because everything that's happened in the Rivalverse so far has either been Kanto or Johto based and it just seems like your story would be so out of the way that no one would be able to tell that it was Rivalverse anyway.
