And whoever started to do one about Wally didn't get very far.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was Jabber, that guy has about 1 million fics and updates like one fic every week, including starting a new one every other fic, meaning that every fic of his is eternally around chapter 3 or 4 at the latest with the exception of Gary Ketchum.
...Basically I think you'd be clear for landing on that front.
Becoming the Champion ain't all that. In fact, by the time Blue beat Koga, I was totally bored of the idea of a journey fic. I'll tell you now - Lance doesn't collect a single Badge in Dragon Days.
I just think if you do Brendan it won't be a case of having less room for story but having virtually no room for story. You could even do Wally. If I was going to do a RSE fic, it'd be about Wally, he's easily the most interesting character in that whole generation.
I just think every single chapter sticking exactly to game text will just be stressful and boring. It wouldn't make for that interesting a fic either I don't think.
In the Rivalverse, the best characters to follow are the ones who are on screen SOME of the time.
Uh... I think it might be best for you to maybe do Brendan as the rival in RSE instead, I think it'd be too hard to write a fic about a protagonist following my rules for events.
Ok, yeah, but I thought seeing as the games do Brendan's story exactly, writing that might be a bit boring for you.
Remember - what happens in the games happens EXACTLY except that the protagonists can say anything additional since they are not actually silent. Except Red in GSCHGSS because he's not a protagonist there - he's actually silent.
Oh, I just don't want the Rivalverse to be one of those 'verses where loads and loads of super-crazy shit happens. I don't like legendaries getting involved at every turn and I don't like global disasters that threaten to kill hundreds etc.
Oh, and Pokemon definitely don't say their own name.
Of course. Brendan was a bit of a dick, I'll enjoy reading about his being outshone by May (I'm assuming he's the Rival, and if not you can still portray him as a dick, like my Johto Hoenn Trainer Brendan =P)
