You can set things up and still make it clear where you're going, though. The trick is in finding the balance between the two.
See, though, it's actually the sequel to Champion Game, so I can't start posting it till it's done. I suppose I could post it, but it's full of spoilers for the end of Champion Game. And I'm not worried about forgetting the idea, because I've already started writing it, and I've planned a good chunk of the opening arc.
If you're gonna deconstruct an egregious trope like that, you kinda have to get going right from the beginning - or else make it quite obvious that you're going to, because otherwise readers will take it at face value and lose interest.
Me personally? XD Well, I'll get to Academy at some point. Tbh, I'm kind of holding off because I have a school fic of my own planned for after Champion Game and I don't want to be influenced too much.
I see what you mean. Sometimes it is difficult to change things halfway through, since you can't just have Edward suddenly change his personality and ignore several plot elements that you've already introduced.
My recommendation would be to leave it alone for now, focus on Second Year Rhapsody, and then when that's finished, come back and rewrite Welcome to Our World from scratch if you still want to.
I understands, and I too tend to lead towards action. I guess it all depends my mood, but I live writing parts with suspense and hair raising action!>x3
Time shouldn't really be an issue. Look how long it takes me to put out chapters of Champion Game now; even so, the fic's nowhere near dead. I see some good points that Starbrow made, too; if you dedicated yourself to actively fixing those up, the fic could be a lot better.
