  • Yeah, there's always people who do that. They'll vote for their friends, or authors whose names they recognise. It's a bit sad, but what can you do?

As for your stories attracting people, don't worry! Dragon's Roar seems plenty popular to me, and Welcome to Our World is just starting. I remember the same thing when I first posted Champion Game at Serebii (not here - I was too clever for my own good here) - hardly anybody replied to it for the first few chapters. Just one or two people. In fact, it's still kind of like that, but slowly, so slowly, the thread gets pushed higher and higher simply on the back of your own posts until it reaches critical mass and people can't help but look at it. My eventual vision is having people go 'Hey, what's this Champion Game thread with 150 replies? I've never read it, let's take a loo-HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME'.

    Weeeell . . . that's the idea. XD
Oh, don't be daft. You have experience on your side - and people know you. I'm hoping I can win Best Newcomer, because obviously nobody knows either of the nominees, but once we get to the 'big leagues', so to speak, it'll be a whole different ball game.

why am i making baseball references fffff i hate baseball
It does look that way! :D It's early days yet, though. Not all the votes are in yet, for sure, and there's still more than half a month left for people to put their opinions in. *crosses fingers*

I have my eye on Best Long Story for next season, though. We might end up head-to-head by then!
Oh also (Hope I am not bothering you with the VMs lol). I am thinking of bringing Amelia back now as time seemed to have passed long enough. I was thinking of having her come back from some spiritual retreat with a new Pokemon as well but wanted to make sure it was alright with you. I know you said you passed her to me (Wow that would be weird if someone walked on that conversation) but she's still essentially your character and don't want to change her too drastically.
Was just wondering is Gray actually going to do anything or do you have a big plan for him? I was just thinking that if he wanted to make a move on Lane her standing alone might be the best chance lol
Okay, I'll try and follow it but I'm not making any promises.

Anyway, I need to go to bed. It's 2.30am. Good night.
    Do it then!

You're planning to make the sequel accessible to new readers, right?

In that case I might try and follow it.
You could do that as a one shot.

It would make a good bridge.

Make sure it is well planned out though.
Because he's Reggie's roommate, so it'd be realistic that he'd be around even if they're not room mates any more.

What is the time gap between the two stories?

Also, if you haven't thought of a part for him, don't force one. Just have him drop out =P
Well, if he's got a role to play in the sequels include him.

Hell, why not? It'd be kinda realistic.
Well, it's not the end yet.

Go over the chapters you've written and make sure they're the most awesome they can be.

I re-did the last two chapters of Rival's Story so many times it's ridiculous. The Scientist wasn't even in them originally.
    What's a lull?

Well, in this case it means where popularity drops in the middle of something.
That happened with Rival's Story too. There was a lull.

I wouldn't worry about it for now, just focus on making your last few chapters as good as you possibly can.
I mean there's still 3 weeks of voting left.

The chapters you publish between now and then could actually have a significant effect on voting.
It's only been one day and only six people have voted.

It wouldn't even be that big of a comeback.

Also, most of the votes are all over the place so it will be easy to catch up. Don't give up so early, there's still like 3 weeks left.

    Wow people with excellent writing!
    Hm, I'll see.

Also, don't be bummed out by the awards. I wish you started your new story before so it could be nominated.
