  • I'm sure you will get nominated just as much.

It's more the voting that it will have an effect on, I suppose.

Who knows, maybe the other mods won't go for it and I will be outvoted though.
That's my aim too. That's always been my aim since The Power Inside beat Rival's Story to Best Story in the first ever Awards and now I'm pitted against him again!

Although for Silph's Escape or Dragon Days to beat Pocket Monsters it would take the biggest perversion of justice that the world has ever seen.

You're right about comparing him to Eiji, actually, it does feel that way. I kind of forgot that determination of mine to beat him to Best Story - thanks for reminding me =)

Anyway, if your story becomes more popular than his, you'll probably be able to tell. You can judge these sort of things from number of comments, reviews and generally how much it is mentioned.

Also, I personally want moderators to be eligible for the next set of Awards and it's not just so I can win some! I think since we have such a huge number of moderators now, it takes away quite a massive chunk of the potential nominees and that is responsible for some categories having next to no nominees this time round in my opinion.
Hey, that's okay, man, everyone feels like that sometimes and there's nothing wrong with saying it! Sorry if my last post sounded like I was having a go at you, I just wanted to remind of how it is!

And also, you are a well known author around the Writer's Workshop! You're one of the most well known there is!

But don't worry about feeling like you're not - that's a good thing. Never be complete. If you ever achieve everything you ever wanted to achieve, you weren't aiming high enough.
I wouldn't concern yourself with issues of popularity. There are many, many more factors than just writing ability and quality of stories involved.

It's usually best not to compare yourself to others in that respect if you can help it. It's only natural to be a little envious but just be grateful that you are one of the most popular authors in the Writer's Workshop and know that there really is no reason to be jealous. There are many people who would kill to be in your shoes. I have a friend irl who is part of the Writer's Workshop who gets pretty much no reviews and was impressed at getting a positive review from someone who gets 2 reviews per chapter... look how many you get!

Legacy's always been ahead of me too, you know. I know there was a time when I was the most commented upon author ahead of him (or something like that) but his comments per chapter were something like quadruple mine. I know you consider me to be lucky to have enjoyed the success I did here but it's all relative, you know.
It's fine. Everyone loves notoriety and their fics being noticed. I'll send you more details once I've contacted all the nomminee.
Having been nomminated for a bunch of awards, would you like to be interviewed for the Summer Awards? It's good advertisment for your fics and the awards and the workshop in general.
That's only because he works really hard at it and has forced himself to evolve as a writer over time. Don't forget that he's 22 (I think) and has wanted to be an author for a long time and, as such, has put a lot of effort into it. Also, I think he's a great example of having evolved as an author. Think about it. He went from writing a fic that was about pre-created characters in new situations (which, admittedly, I read very little of) to Pocket Monsters, which is one of the most original fanfictions I've ever read.

Although as far back as the history of BMGf will allow us to see, he has been very very good, he is still improving, just like everyone is on here for that matter.

I think there's always room for improvement in almost any field.
But since Silph's Escape and Dragon Days will be roughly the same length (about 40 chapters each I think), I hope by the time they are both finished that Silph's Escape will be a far more popular fic.

And, yeah, I guess every project is an attempt at evolution. Just look at Legacy.
    Yes. They're also more detailed.

I'm trying to evolve as a writer.

Personally, I think Silph's Escape is objectively a better story than either of its predecessors but, of course, it will probably never reach the popularity of Rival's Story. I just hope it outdoes Dragon Days.
Oh, I don't know specifically, it's just speculation.

It's just he's a year or two older than me and I'm busy enough. As everyone knows, he has intermittent health problems, he has a job and he works really hard on writing Pocket Monsters (and he probably writes other stuff). I'm sure he would've put his all into judging if he had been required but I doubt he'll be too put out - he's probably better off than me.
Hmmm, that's very annoying, isn't it? Would it, perhaps, be easier to skip the start for now and go straight into the bits you're confident of? Once you're into the flow of things it might be easier to write the start.

And, yes, but there is even less to do for Drakon as there is not a single nomination for his category. I think Jabberwocky's category also has only one nomination. To be honest, I think Legacy is busy enough as it is.
Ah, jeez, sorry I didn't reply to your last VM. I didn't even see it until now.

I've been getting an unprecedented amount of VMs over the last 2 hours so I probably overlooked it by accident.

Right now I'm trying to work on my novel. How about you?
He's talking about doing interviews with the nominees like Legacy was talking about doing last quarter.

I imagine he'll talk to you about in the next few days since you've been nominated for a bunch of awards.
I've read Hellion's, yours, some of Lugion's and some of Tsutarja's.

That is correct but I don't need to make a call until like the 31st so I've got time.
Well you have to remember as well that Eiji is like one year older than them but Fukuda is quite a few.

Like, when both Ashirogo and Eiji started everyone was like 'child geniuses!' but with Fukuda he was just kinda young. I think he's like 4 years older than them at least. That means he was 20 or thereabouts when he started writing manga professionally so he had a chance to develop properly before he put his body under the strain that mangaka usually do.
