Her name was Sonia; I named her after the duck from Peter and the Wolf. I was seven at the time, so I was only familiar with the Disney version where Sonia was saved. Looking back, I probably chose the name because I thought that I was saving Sonia, which was true in the sense that she had been abused as a street dog. She had undergone surgery when my sister's friend brought her to us.
She lived a long and happy life. She had some health issues prior to passing on in 2011, but she was 16 by then.
