"In the triangle of strength, speed, and toughness, the Lightning Bruiser does not trade off one advantage for another the way, say, the Fragile Speedster trades off durability for speed or the Glass Cannon trades durability for power.
To prevent the character from becoming a Game Breaker or a Story Breaker Power, the Lightning Bruiser may have weaknesses beyond strength, speed, and toughness: lack of range, magical capability, or a high resource cost are some of the challenges these characters can face.
A Lightning Bruiser may also perform Confusion Fu. If he's good at everything, then he can throw everything at you, right? May also be a Flying Brick. Compare and contrast Acrofatic, Muscles Are Meaningless.
When adding examples: keep in mind: This trope only exists on a compared basis to other characters in universe. A statement that a character is strong, fast, and durable does not define them as a Lightning Bruiser, most Action Heroes and Badasses already demonstrate those qualities. A character is a Lightning Bruiser if they are explicitly stated to be stronger, faster, and tougher than most of the other characters, or if it is stated explicitly that another character is a Fragile Speedster or a Mighty Glacier."
... zuh? Starmie is an example? *looks it up and sees that it has base 85 in both defenses*
... well, there's one I like. XD And Garchomp is on the list, so that's two. Scizor is mentioned, with Bullet Punch bypassing its Speed, but I still don't consider it much of one. So he doesn't count. Oh, Latios/Latias are on the list as well~ And Leafeon. Celebi and Jirachi, too. :3
I see. Hmm ... trying to think of some Lightning Bruisers that look cool. XD I don't know that many honestly. Well, I don't know many examples of the character types in general.
If I play a fast character though, I'd rather have a Lightning Bruiser (the Alliance Infiltration Unit in ME3 is this, with high shields and the Repair Matrix to help keep them up). Unless it's something like Pokémon where speed is nigh-unresisted dominance.
See, my logic for games in general is that no matter how fast or evasive you can be, you're always gonna get hit sooner or later. And when that happens, I like to be able to take more than one or two hits. XD
I don't mind being slow if I can take hits. Though ... I guess therein lies the problem. Slow, frail things can be caught with their pants down when Trick Room expires. Now, a team of slow, bulky attackers (i.e. Dusknoir, who actually learns it iirc), on the other hand ...
Also, the T-Tar had a Focus Sash as we found out later, but Superpower + Aqua Jet would've led to a similar result. Three 'Mons defeated all because of one Dragon Dance. =w=;
Ah, he sent it in against a burnt Mega Aerodactyl to take advantage of the ... well, burn, along with Crawdaunt's decent Defense stat. Survived a Thunder Fang with about half HP. Then he takes it out with an Aqua Jet. Gastrodon gets one-shotted by Crunch, and then Tyranitar is sent in. For whatever reason, Tyranitar is then switched out for Greninja, who gets destroyed with a Superpower. Excadrill, again, Aqua Jet. It does barely hang on though, and that ends Crawdaunt's sweep. But dang, half a team taken down.
... ah! He mentions in the video that his Crawdaunt has Adaptability. That probably helped a lot, too. xD
