Yeah .... well, the obvious limitation is that you can only carry so many before having to resupply. And resupplying grenades tends to be more time-consuming than resupplying ammo, since the boxes in multiplayer tend to be less generous with grenade restocks.
And my Batarian Slasher can "prime" a target with Warp, before instantly following up with a well-placed Cluster Grenade to detonate, since grenades are unaffected by (and conversely have no effect on) recharge times. Meaning, you can use them as much as you need to.
Yeah. Some powers or ammo types cause lingering effects on a target. Those effects can be detonated with certain powers, resulting in a Fire Explosion, Cryo Explosion, Tech Burst, or Biotic Explosion. All of those inflict significant damage, though some more than others.
