Probably fake. Bad thing about chaining, you gotta encounter the same Pokemon over, and over, again, and again. And the shinies uasully appear when the chain reaches 40, and my highest chain is 13... Yeah, I suck at this.
I've just started chaining today, but what you do is this: You use the PokeRadar, and you fight Pokemon. You can't run away from the fights. After you defeat a Pokemon, more grass will rustle, and a 'chain' will start. You have to keep fighting the same Pokemon, but it has to be from the rustling grass. If you get a high chain, the chance of meeting a shiny increase, so a lot of people use this method to get shinies.
