  • I'm not going to expect much from that January 13th episode then. I'm just hoping that we will get a Gen VI announcement sometime in January whether it's on Smash or the official website. I think Gen V was announced on the website, right? It was announced at the end of January so I'm going to try not to expect anything until at least mid January.

The main thing that will be our hints are the merch listings that should hopefully come out soon, I remember around the time Gen V was announced there was some merch popping up with '????' which were obviously new Pokemon.
Sunyshore should know for sure, hopefully she can clear it up.

The Jan 13th summary is actually already up:

    ----------
Anime "Pokemon Best Wishes Season 2", entered the episode "N" new chapter soon! To celebrate it, we would deliver a special episode in Pokesuma!
Robert and International unit that resulted in the same time with his Satoshi, the "adventure over Reshiramu". And the identity of the "Y" a mysterious young man appeared in front of them ...? Pokemon Smash! Stay tuned to the episode "Y", beg! There is also very happy about the latest Pokemon Center in Japan, it's an absolute check up early!
    ----------
    Doesn't mention Masuda either.
I tried another translator and it says:

    ----------
returning home from Choo dinner now! ! ! Today, the conference, meeting or conference, incorporate Suma poke at banquets, now 3:30 am tired and I have great day! ! ! Do you sleep! ! !
    ----------
That doesn't mention a recording, yet the other translator says that it does. Odd, now I'm not even sure if he recorded Smash.
Doesn't the tweet mention that he recorded Smash?

    ----------
Chu got home from dinner now! ! ! I was a busy day wonderfully Well, today I was tired and now meeting at 3:30 am, meeting, recording Pokesuma, meetings, dinner! ! ! Everyone, Do Sai Good night! ! !
    ----------
If it's wrong, then I guess he didn't even record Smash at all then since that's the tweet I thought referenced him recording Smash. I don't think there was another tweet mentioning it.
Since the anime isn't of good use plot-wise, I daresay that episodes focusing on including a more developed (yet not main cast) character are more interesting than the usual ones. You seem to fall in the trap of believing the anime is going to do something different with its format rather than its plot; there might be a more original goal this time around, but that doesn't mean it's going to lose the fillers, the CotDs and the usual patterns. It's a kids show, so, you should expect the simplicity and the repeated schemes. The most we could wish for is for it to at least raise its quality bar (back to the Original Series' quality) for its target audiance. Expecting a conscientiously cared storyboard may be unrealistic, but seeing matronal plot elements implemented in a way that fits the genre may not be too much to ask for. A "simple" plot doesn't equal to a "flat" one.
There doesn't have to be any sort of rivalry. If anything, I think the term "rival" is very rough. While there is also some kind of rivalry with the "rivals" most of times, the term is usually just used to refer to is prominent support characters (you might call them a "main character" in the games, but probably not in the anime) with (usually) similar goals to the protagonist. Was there any sort of major rivalry between Brandan and May? I wouldn't say so, although the RSE "rival" title is arguably unfit for Brandan/May anyway. The anime "rivals" are even rougher.

Anyway, what I mean to say is that I'd rather see a support character than a random CotD. She will probably be classified as a "rival" in Bulbapedia, but that doesn't matter. :p
Game Freak will be wasting their right opportunity if they didn't go in that direction. I've almost concluded that they won't be introducing a new type in Generation VI, of course until the grand promotion of Eevee. This is the right time for them.
A new type is indeed anything but guaranteed. From one point of view, making a new type might be opening Pandora's Box. This is Game Freak and, if history is any indication, they're certainly neither the visionaries nor the supreme game designers they used to be. If they introduce a new type now, they might not know where to stop. I couldn't ask more than being proved wrong, though. There's no doubt the types chart needs to be updated, and one new type would freshen things up and give them the opportunity of an update.

Is it possible that the new anime character is going to be prominent though? I mean, there are several important anime-introduced characters. Can't that be a rival or something? I don't care about seeing Hugh, to be honest. Barry and Bianca felt out of place when blended with the anime's characters. I'd rather they made something like the Legend of Thunder to introduce game characters in the anime world -- or, well, the film cameos they stupidly stopped using...
I still have hopes for a new type. They are heavily promoting Eevee, indicating that it will have a new evolution; and since Eevee is strongly related to elemental types, it's likely that they will be using the Generation VI evolution of Eevee for the promotion of a new elemental type.
It'll almost certainly be a blank announcement at first, maybe with some generic information. "A brand new generation of Pokémon is set to appear on Nintendo 3DS. It will introduce numerous new Pokémon, shiny 3D graphics, a brand new story, new communicational features and gameplay advancements." I wouldn't be surprised if ", including new types" followed "gameplay advancements". In any case, I expect them to announce the new type most likely in the first or second month of coverage. They may hint at it during the first, and announce it afterwards. No need to be too secretive about it, since it's no doubt a very solid promotion tool. Related websites will be pretty psyched about a new Pokémon type, since that hasn't happened ever since 1999. Maybe they'll announce the type along with the radically altered battle system.

It wouldn't be too weird if it was just the Eeveelution with the new type. I think they'd save the Legendary of that type to star on its own movie. But there will certainly be some Pokémon of the new type in the film -- perhaps even the Eeveelution, as a support character.

I think Episode N's the plot will be a mix of BW and B2W2 elements (and new ones as well, obviously). I'm not sure how the movies handles Zekrom, Reshiram and Kyurem, but I expect those three in the climax. I'm sure they'll figure a way to use them a bit differently -- N's Castle hasn't appeared in the anime after all...
That's a bit worrisome to be honest, but let's not jump into conclusions. After all, there several other characters that will appear in a starring role, like certainly the one or two original character protagonists for the movie.

I think that, unfortunately, the very last episodes of Best Wishes will be Plasma-focused, but I hope they surprise us. I do expect the Plasma climax after the Genesect climax (ie. the movie debut), but what if they took one month (Jult/August, 4-5 episodes) to do something else? A non-pointless. filler-free blend of a look back at the series and warm up for the Generation VI iteration would be wonderful. For example, a shocking event (as shocking as an anime event can be) would be due for that. I confess that I liked Pallet Party Panic very, very much. I imagine that fellas that follow the anime will be excited to see something similar happen with one of Ash's new Pokémon. A main characters/rivals reunion would also be great. I'd like to see Ritchie again, and a battle with Gary would be epic.
What will they be there for then? Seems random to go and not reveal anything as not giving any big news will hardly promote the franchise considering the other companies will likely overshadow it with their own news and surprises. So if we got nothing in the Q&A and wont get anything in Jump Festa, it looks like we'll be waiting until next month for any sort of news. Gen V was announced all the way at the end of January, so we might have to wait over a month.

And yeah, it hardly changes anything as there will surely still be a new Eeveelution in the movie.
He said that his favorite pokemon cry from the games was Koduck's and that he was surprised when it was used at the end of one of the commercials (probably this one). He was also asked why G'Cis's right eye and right arm (which I only just realized can't be seen in any of the official artwork or game sprites) are so messed up. I couldn't catch everything he said, but I *think* he told us that they're the results of a pokemon attack.
Hopefully we'll get some sort of hint or something, but Im doubting it. Im more looking forward to Jump Festa, it's in exactly a week. Will The Pokemon Company be there both days of Jump Festa or just one?
Not yet, I am afraid. Though I haven't done my daily search yet.

However, as far as I know, movie related merch tends to be revealed in personal shows of the companies or the hobby fairs. Sunyshore(Gin) is more knowledgable than I am about this topic, so she will probably be a better source about these than me : p.
I haven't watched it yet myself, but it's rather ridiculous that they shrinked each of the LotR books in one movie (albeit long ones) and divided The Hobbit into a trilogy. I imagine they'll make up quite a few things to make the movies retain interest. Perhaps they'll even include (adapted) LotR elements that were omitted...
Nice find! I just can't see them bringing up a Flying-type Eeveelution if they're planning to only introduce a single Generation VI Eeveelution. I'm pretty sure those stars hint much more rather than just a new Eeveelution, probably, just what've you said, a new type. Hoping that it's the Light-type.
