  • I think the glittering stars could hint at a new Light-type. But the first thing I thought of was shiny Pokemon, so I hope it isn't something lame like an existing shiny Eeveelution.
Masuda's Q&A is on the 14th in Japan right? That means the Q&A should be done with within 24 hours, do you know anywhere that will post anything he says that is of relevance?

That Eevee thing is very interesting indeed. It's hard to tell if those stars are added to the end of it for the specific letter to represent the Eeveelution, or if they are added to the end just for decoration at the end of the title.
Yeah, I don't think the regular Gensect will be as much focused on as the Extremespeed one. Especially considering that there will no doubt be a Generation VI Pokémon in the movie as well. That said, both have to be made by someone. If we assume the regular Genesect is made by Plasma, the Extremespeed one is either made by Plasma as well, or someone else that somehow got their plans (and modified them?) -- perhaps the film's human villain. Or, well, it could just be random and unexplained, as can the other Genesect -- that's not untypical of the anime. Thing is, I find it hard to believe they'd make the movie of an associated season, have one of the Pokémon that appeared during the season and not make a connection out of the two. That takes a lot of trying... :p

The fact that Genesect has some role in the anime is no news; we did see in the poster too. But they might be keeping it locked, or still be working on it during the show; the climax, if you will -- or at least a continuation on which it's more prevelant (as a species), since it does appear that the show will mostly focus on the Dragons -- of the Genesect story should logically be in the movie. I certainly don't expect it to have such a sophisticated role as Mewtwo in the first season -- it will probably have a two parter or something; escaping from Team Plasma?

Now, about Mewtwo... Yes, it's likely the merchandise is not meaningless. Most likely, though? Have you forgotten their tracking record on doing meaningless things? Also, Rayquaza has merc. as well; we can assume this is due to the RSE anniversary thing going on, but it's not that they're trying to be absolutely consistent with their choises. Do I think Mewtwo will have a role though? I can't see it be in the movie along with a Generation VI star, but perhaps if there's anything Genesect will do in the show, it may involve Mewtwo somehow. Be it Ash making a comparison out of the two, or Mewtwo actually appearing, that is yet to see.
"Extremespeed Genesect: What is this red Genesect, a Pokemon from 300 million years ago, who boasts special speed and power doing in the middle of a large mordern city?"
Are they trying to pass this as Genesect's ancient form? Doubt they'd even try that... It's got a freakin' cannon...

I think my original theory about the show simply hinting on the events that lead to the movie is more likely... I'm not sure why you're convinced Genesect will appear in Episode N. The only question that remains is; will N himself appear as well? I don't think any character besides Ash and co., Prof. Oak and Ash's mom has ever appeared in a movie. Well, Gary, barely. I hope N does appear, and the fact that they're not using a completely remote location helps in thinking so.

But then again, knowing them, this may just be completely random. Like Ash and co. meeting and confronting the show's Genesect and then being completely astonished by the movie's ones, as if they've never seen a (let alone three) Genesect before.

Still, M16 will do lower ratings than usual.
That's not a bad idea, indeed. Although, considering there are two Genesects (and that this is the anime -- if Game Freak didn't specifically tell them, they probably don't even know Genesect is an ancient Pokémon actually), would that work as good?
You know, it seems nuts that they would create a new type, have a changing-types Pokémon movie that year and not give it said type. :p

But that doesn't mean there won't be another star in the film. Just two Genesects? That would indeed be boring. At this point they don't have other Legendaries to use either. I guess going back to Jirachi? That doesn't really fit. They should go with a non-Legendary again. Not a new "Lucario" necessary, but something down on earth nevertheless.

So, Central Park. I guess they'll still make use of their travelling rights without going off Unova really. maybe the second Genesect came from another world through the Entralink?
Oh, wow... While this could (as usual) them playing around with us, this is, again, a very likely hint. So many hints crawl around... I guess besides a new Eeveelution it could be a shiny Eevee? That would be quite lame. Fingers crossed.

In other news, good that the show's plot may be connected to the movie after all. Can you recognize the place? It would certainly be a positive sign if the location is more game-based, rather than based on another country as usual.

Thinking about it, Genesect is not such a bad choice for introducing a new type. Perhaps the anime's plot will revolve around making a new disk, and the new type will eventually be the focus of the movie. Transferring Extremespeed Genesect to Generation VI would unlock the new type's disk (hopefully without another ambiguously canon event).
Sinjoh is pretty much the perfect candidate, being close to the regions we're used to and like, but also featuring unique, fresh concepts unseen before in the series. I didn't like the Sinnoh Legends too much in the Sinnoh games, but the Mystri Stage event was incredible. Of course, I am hopying Sinjoh's vibe will be closer to Johto's than to Sinnoh's. Come to think of it, how possible is it that Morimoto would direct another game? HGSS and its every element were an absolute bliss. Great not only as a remake, but also when it comes to its new elements like the PokéAthlon and the walking Pokémon. Save for Kris and the Ilex Forest Shrine event (and let's be honest here: even those elements' absence, especially in combination to each other, triggered some great theories), HGSS were perfect. Of course, I doubt that any new entry of the main series will be directed by anyone other than Masuda...
How would you feel if there wasn't that much of a new important Pokémon in the movie (like something barely as important as Genesect) and Generation VI focused on trimming the series as a whole? I'd like that. I'd like it if there was only a two-digit number of new Pokémon, with 4 or 5 new Legendary ones. We've reached 649, and they've hardly explored 1/5 of them really. I mean, some of the Pokémon we know are so unexplored, all we have about them is their Pokédex entry. It would be so good if the next generation focused on quality rather than quantity. That would also work with the model of expansions we were discussing, as well as my suggestion for "mini-events"/missions that would not only utilize co-op concepts with other players, but also expose more of the Pokémon lore. And it wouldn't be short of surprises either; if anything, finding new Pokémon only occasionally is much more exciting. And with a couple expansions during the generation, they will keep a better balance and stronger momentum.

By occasion, if the games don't take place in the modern Sinjoh Region, would you rather see a new region in the Kanto-nation, the Unova-nation, or somewhere completely new? I'm definitely wanting something near the classical regions -- Unova Pokémon had quite some spotlight in recent times, and giving them some time to rest isn't a bad idea. I confess that I'm not as much into Hoenn as I am into Kanto and Johto, so, Sinjoh would work better than Chugoku/Shikokou. But I wouldn't mind the latter either. If it won't be a Kanto-nation region... Hard to say. In all honesty, I wouldn't mind an original geographical piece for a change (as long as they don't start to exclusively use original areas). In the real world, there's mostly just the Pacific Ocean that separates Japan from North America -- but in the Pokémon World, more land could be eastern of PokéJapan. Seems a bit extreme, I guess, but it's not that much of a bad idea.
I would understand the logical inclusion of the Pokémon in the movie if there was sanity left in TPC; to make an effort out of creating a worthwhile Pokémon movie that rewards and justifies the existance of the anime's Pokémon World outside of being a promotion tool. But now? No, I don't understand this either. Seems like a waste of time and resources. For the record, I don't care about the anime either; I'll happily watch a movie or a couple episodes every once in a while, just for the nostalgia of it, but I'm not that interested. All that said, I would be very happy to know its general direction is on a positive side.

By the way, there's also a good possibility there will be a VS in the title. Although it's weird they didn't save the pre-title for the new Pokémon. Maybe they'll retcon the current pre-title? It's pretty awkward anyway, and that may just be Genesect's name ("the Extremespeed Genesect"...).
Nothing planned. The next Direct is expected in February (they're effectively bimonthy), but it could appear at any point for all we know. They've hinted on launch window surprises we still don't know about though...

I think it's possible they will have a Wii U event in January, but I'm not sure if it will feature any 3DS announcements by the occasion.
Well, it's not that big a deal that it's going to be distributed so many times. For what it's worth, I guess they give the movie distribution a bit of a point by making it shiny, lol.

Should we probably expect an event with it in Generation VI? I hope not. No reason to make a second Genesect be indicated to exist just for the sake of making an excuse out of why the anime features it. If anything (much like the decently used Black Rayquaza in Nobunaga's Ambition), other media and worlds are the only way to feature shiny Legendary Pokémon, and it's good that they do. Is it naϊve that I'd made believe with the Crown Beasts? I'm still not sure what to think of them... Did the Legendary Beasts turn shiny and traveled to Unova or something? Is there a second set of them? Really shouldn't have included that event, if even Game Freak hasn't thought of these answers...

Why can't the movie name be changed? If "Godspeed Genesect" means "Good luck Genesect", they may call the movie "Godspeed Genesect! The X Y!", or something like that. If it's literally just a Genesect that knows how to use Extremespeed, then "Extremespeed Genesect and the X Y" would still work. But yeah, it's a bit awkward.
It's annoying that they didn't hint for a Gen VI Pokemon during the title. Is the movie going to be titled "Genesect of Extremespeed"? That's a terrible, generic title. I'm sure it will be changed, but I'm worried since they didn't hint at a new Pokemon being revealed by leaving a mysterious letter like they did with Zoroark. Serebii seems to believe there will still be an addition to the title.
Oh, I didn't remember that quote (though it does sound like something N would say). Well, what can I say? Obviously, they were most likely based on the BW hero. But since the former was handled otherwise... Might as well dream some dreams. :p

It's hillarious how they differentiated Episode N's Genesect with movie's Genesect. I doubt N will have anything to do with this. If anything, is this the birth of another template, if I see one? I bet fans will be expecting the last movie of each generation to feature shiny Pokémon from now on. I should have known better than to think TPC would do anything worthwhile with the anime... I hope this doesn't indicate where the franchise is going staying by the next generation. This should be the last anime-based movie.

On a more positive note, everything seems to point to new Eeveelution(s). If there will be focus on Eevee even by July... I can make out Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Vaporeon in the poster -- it's hard to see the others, but we can assume it's the rest of the Eevee family.

(Edit) Yup, it seems we agree.
The Eevee short for the next movie is very interesting, that would be the perfect opportunity to feature a new Eeveelution.
Oh, that's right. I hadn't thought of that as an indication. Perhaps it was even the BW hero who told those words ("Dream your dream!") to the character who was supposed to appear in PWT.

Cool that they're there somewhere, sucks that they have to same quote. It's perfectly possible technically for there to be a downloadable League with them; possibly one with all main Unova characters; Hilbert, Hilda, Cheren, Bianca and N. That said, I doubt this is going to happen. Wouldn't it have happened at a more core point of the games' cycle? Like in September, for BW's second anniversary? In any case, I'm glad we have a semi-canon quote of them. Do you think it's the BW hero's quote, or the Subway partner's? I choose to believe the latter, as it's a more interesting turn out. We do have references for the BW Hero, but nothing of the other main character (and we can assume they are pretty strong, if Battle Subway is any indication).
Oh well. I don't get why there was any announcement in Jump Festa in first place. Pokémon media is affiliated to Shogakukan instead of Shueisha, and despite the fact that the two did some sort of merger or deal lately, they're unlikely not to be competitive internally, as they do have competitive products. :p

Oh well, another chance will show up. When you think of how casually Iwata announced Gen V, the next games may even be spoken of in a Nintendo Direct. Though the next one will most likely be around February, so.
We could still get something, I guess. It's less likely though, but it does seem random for them to be there and reveal nothing at all since it seemed that they usually don't do expo's like this unless they have something to reveal or some sort of news.

Hopefully Coro Coro leaks today and we get some news about the movie.
    ----------
For those of you with in Japan, a new event has been announced. Found in various events including Jump Festa and various Team Plasma Control events across Japan in AEON malls, a special Pokémon is to be distributed from December 15th 2012 to December 23rd 2012. This Pokémon is a Deoxys owned by series director Junichi Masuda. It is Level 100 with the Ability Pressure. Move wise, it has Nasty Plot and Dark Pulse, which it can't normally learn, and Recover and Psycho Boost. It comes with the Life Orb attached.
    ----------
A pretty random event if you ask me, as well as it beginning to get merchandise. What's up with the random Deoxys promotion? Is it because it's in that TCG set? I never knew they actually release merchandise and events just to hype a TCG set.

I'm looking forward to Coro Coro, we should get a movie title and poster. It's taking a while so hopefully it'll be worth it and we'll have some sort of hint for a new Pokemon.
