  • Good names for the moves, just suits for the Light-type. I guess Game Freak deciding to add the Light-type in Generation VI will open doors for them for more new Pokemon and move ideas.

Well, what can you say to those people who oppose the addition of another new elemental type, especially the Light-type? In general, my observation is that people are afraid on adding another elemental type because this will change the type chart and will indeed change the metagame, which makes competitive players afraid; although just like what you've said, I agree that Game Freak should change the metagame in the next generation or it will become stagnant. Regarding the Light-type, people oppose it because they say that there's already a Psychic and Fighting types, Psychic in which, according to them, is already a direct opposite of the Dark-type; and Fighting in which they are noble as oppose to the Dark who do dirty tactics. In my opinion, the Psychic attributes are that they just use psychic powers, and the Fighting is, of course, using punches and kicks and some waves, so I don't see the connection of the Psychic and Fighting types to the "enlightening" Light-types. So what are your comments on this?
Chunsoft actually barely makes it to the list, as the latest MD released in August 2009. Since then, a lot has happened to the company. For example, they recently merged with Spike. I doubt they'd say no to a Nintendo licence, of course. As for HAL, I'm not sure if they were involved in Ranger 2 and 3 at all. What I am sure about is that the last Pokémon game mentioned in their portofolio is the first Ranger. Conquest was also a crossovery collaboration, which doesn't happen too often (and it's too soon for a sequel anyway). As for Zener Works, they are the developers of that DS Card Game guide, so, not much to say or expect. In effect, we have four core active Pokémon developers.

I guess that if Genius Sonority is still game, the time to show it is approaching. After their very successful eShop game (which is coming to the west!), I actually have a bit hope for a decent spin-off. I won't say I expect a console battle/RPG game from them (not that it's impossible, but only recently they hired new members, so, I don't know), but a retail 3DS release that isn't a Typing edutainment game might be in the book. I'd enjoy a spin-off RPG game with alternate mechanics, actually. Perhaps a game with a simpler battle system (akin to Denpa Ningen?) or something. It could well be set in the Pokémon world, and they might as well even use or refer to their already established characters and locations.

Now, for Ambrella, I guess they also have a chance, but I hope not.
I do remember that we agreed that the GS Ball logically came through the Time Machine. I guess the confirmation of Chieko not appearing slipped under my nose (and it solves much of the confusion regarding her actions).
I guess it might have been more fun to collect and learn about the information piece by piece, although I think I would have been impressed by all the information gathered even if I read it all together for the first time.

Anyway... I wonder when the next game will be announced, logically a spin-off. Which developers are actively make games? From a quick look in the last three years, the following developers have made a game are, in order of latest release:

    Creatures, 2012 Q3
    Game Freak, 2012 Q3
    Tecmo Koei, 2012 Q1
    Ambrella, 2011 Q3
    Zener Works, 2011 Q3
    Genius Sonority, 2011 Q2
    (HAL Laboratory, 2010 Q1?)
    Chunsoft, 2009 Q3

Obviously, I don't count AQL, Namco Bandai and Sega Toys.
I see your point. If that's the case, then what do you think the names of the Light-type moves and abilities will be and what will be their effects? Could be the names have the words Luminous, Halo, Holy, Enlightenment, etc; and the effects has something to do with healing aside from the attacking moves of course?
Anyway, if they decided to make the Light-type and Chaos-type, what would be it's color code, such as Blue is to Water and Green is to Grass? I guess Yellowish Cream or Light Yellow will be appropriate for the Light-type, such as this; but what would be on the other type?
I like your interpretation regarding the Light-type, the Light-type indeed is for Pokemon that are enlightened and that are doing good deeds as opposed to the Dark-type that do dirty things, and it gives Game Freak the chance for them to be on the "safe side" as well, although I guess they could give the Light-type another description aside from "Empathy", "Enlightenment", and "Heroic" in my opinion, such as Light-type that gives "bright light", which will make Light-types' moves weaker to Grass-type Pokemon and making the move "Flash" a Light-type move, so the Light-type would have 2 attributes, the "Enlightenment" and the typical one that gives light. The Pokemon you mentioned indeed makes sense for them to become Light-type, although I guess you could also count Ampharos since it makes dark places brighter.

Light-type makes sense as well since it will finally give Sableye and Spiritomb (which are both Dark-types and Ghost-types) weaknesses; with this, they can finally make Pokemon with evolutionary families and even pseudo-legendary ones that are Dark-types and Ghost-types, instead of them stuck on a single Pokemon just because they have no weaknesses. Regarding Arceus, wouldn't it make sense if they just make a Plate that would make Arceus Light-type instead of changing Arceus' primary type from Normal-type to Light-type just to be, once again, into the "safe side", especially that they made a Dark-type plate for Arceus?

The "Chaos-type" you mentioned seems to be interesting as well. I just hope Game Freak will make an interesting theme for Generation VI, especially that they're now moving to the 3DS, which will open for them for more possibilities. For the new features, I expect Game Freak for them to finally make a new type. I know it will change the type chart, which the competitive players may complain, but I guess it's time for a change now.
Not lately, no, but I do appreciate you checking in! I'll try to bump it up my list of priorities since I know a lot of people are looking forward to it.
Glad to finally see the article. Very well put presentation of the events, and seeing it all together did make me think of a point. Maizie may have communicated with Kris through Bill's system instead of travelling to the present of Crystal; she also assumably the GS Ball through that -- which might point that where Kris should head is even further in the past, rather than [sic] back in the future. Maybe that though had crossed your mind, but I surprisingly had not realized contemporary GSC time is as back in time as Maizie could have been able to communicate, since that is when Bill invented the system -- and most importantly, I had taken for given that Maizie had herself actually appeared, for some reason... That explains why whatever should be done with the GS Ball, she couldn't do herself.

I wonder if it should have been on Bulbanews instead though, seeing as it didn't trigger too much discussion yet...
Hmm... Just want to hear your thoughts and opinion on this. Is it finally the time for Game Freak to introduce a new elemental type on Generation VI, especially the controversial "Light-type"?. Since it's certain that Generation VI will be on the 3DS, it will open for possibilities for many new features of course. I just brought this up since I can't think of any theme that Game Freak might put on the next generation now. They already did the Land, Sea, and Sky thing (Generation III); the Time, Space and Antimatter thing (Generation IV); the Truth, Ideals, and Neutrality thing (Generation V); etc. So maybe adding the "Light-type" to the elemental types opens some themes which Game Freak can use for Generation VI. Of course, the "religion" thing will come up, but I guess they can make a solution for that anyway; although I know that it will indeed change the effects of the typings.

What are your thoughts about this?
I just want Gen VI to start now. There's nothing interesting going on and no one talks about anything interesting.
    "What would be the point?"
You and me both know that's a question that can be asked in a vast majority of direction choices in the anime. :p

Quite honestly though, if there's no point in showing a game city, then what's the point of the anime itself (and I wish its point was something more interesting)? I can understand not seeing Anville Town or something, but Opelucid? I'd be very surprised if that turned out to be the case. As for what they could do for both Opelucid and Black City/White Forest... Well, that's not hard to think about. As far as I'm concerned, they've been much more inconsistent in hundreds of other things. Remember this? :p

In any case, if Dragon Village is relatively close to Unova, the gang visiting it as well as Unova places that haven't been visited yet isn't too unlikely. In fact, Ash and Dent could possiblty accompany Iris into going there, after the League. This would be neat, because unlike 1999, the anime and game world "rules" are more well set, and are interchargeable in certain aspects. Perhaps they could even make that region close to Unova with suggestions and input from Game Freak.

I doubt Typing will affect B2W2 at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even notice the dates are so close!
To be fair though, the few people that have played it had relatively good impressions... I like the fact that the keyboard is Bluetooth-ready, which means you can use it with your Android or iOS device, but I doubt that's a selling point. To be honest, I'm puzzled as to why they even chose to localize it.
I don't follow the anime too much, but why is it unlikely for Black City and White Forest to be incorporated? Admittedly they have passed (I think) the location, but I'm not sure if they will skip it completely, given the gimmick significance. In any case, indeed, it seems strange for Ash and co. to continue travelling in Unova after the League, considering they've visited/are visiting post-League locations and B2W2 additions now. That said, it's even stranger that writers will come up with new content when they still have locations from the game to use...

I don't know what to think, but since (I believe) there are over 5 cities not visited, they might slow down the pace a bit after the League and visit them, while also showing B2W2 changes along the road. A "Senior" Cup for the World Tournament might be possible after all.

Personally though, I'd rather see something similar to the Orange Islands. That would keep us with something relatively more interesting than nothing for some time, since it's gonna take a while before we have actual news.
Also of interest, on one of the GlitterBerry GS interviews, they mention how the trainers were going to grow older as the game progressed, moving up to the next trainer class and having improved Pokemon. This obviously never happened, but it's interesting how large the scope they were going for the internal clock features was originally.
Well, he at least confirmed which game the project turned into. We haven't even managed to get Pocket Monster RPG acknowledged...
Interesting. One has to wonder, if Pokemon RPG was really nothing, why those involved are so hesitant to just say so and be done with it (ala Crystal being Pokemon X). I wonder if they still plan to create that game in some form in the future?
Very much agreed about the choice of characters as well. Domino was also an especially interesting character (for the Pokémon anime), and I don't get why she never reappeared or even cameoed like Hun and Attila. Silver would also be a fine addition to Ash's rivals at this time especially. I find Trip incredible uninspired and forced. At least Paul had a different taste in him, and I daresay he wasn't that similar to Silver. Silver had very well-set goals, and his character was built around more complicated situations. But well, at least Paul wasn't underpowered like Trip, which is why they didn't have to make up silly reasons for him to beat Ash.

Either way, with Giovanni finally directly involved, Silver has reason to appear. I wonder what would happen if Ethan's character had to return. Would they use the established character, or would they directly introduce his split counterpart? Personally, I'd rather see the former happen, even if they had to retcon his name to be in line with the game. Incidentally, Gary also hasn't appeared in years. I hope he will be involved in the arc following the League. They have time to do something worthwhile that doesn't have to be directly based on the games. Gary should no question have a strong say on that arc and the two rivals should finally have a rematch which will conclude the anime.
It would indeed be neat to see that TR Admin in a game... The only thing I like from not directly seeing her is that it implies that TR did indeed have things going on behind the scenes, and that could include higher-ranked members we haven't met. Most Teams after TR didn't manage to give me the impression of a "young fellow poking their nose in other people's business". I fondly remember the first meeting with Team Rocket in Mt. Moon for that. Team Plasma had a strong background, but the others were all a bit too flat. Even TR's post break-up operations had more interest in them; a desperate attempt to bring back what was long gone -- they also explored aspects we didn't know about, like how fond TR's members were about their boss. And even if they weren't as huge as in Kanto, Ethan did have other targets in his journey to make up for that.
I really doubt they're getting rid of Team Rocket. They've made multiple episodes with the premise of them breaking up.
Seeing Silver would be perfect, especially for the name thing. Now, Jessie and James getting Ariana's and Archer's roles would be both good and bad.

Depending on how it would be handled, it could be a merge of two different characters (much like what happened with Kris and Lyra in Special). Ironically, Special had a split of Archer and Ariana in two different characters, so, there's much going on with those characters' identity between the canons... On the other hand, that would be interesting for Jessie's and James's characters, and very much needed. I wonder if we'd also see Proton and Petrel; hopefully not, as this would make the new roles of Jessie and James a bit more acceptable.

Incidentally, I wonder if Archer and Ariana's redesigns are a reference to James and Jessie. Personally, I accept Jessie and James as canon game characters, not only because of their roles in Yellow, but also thanks to their appearance to the game-themed EX Team Rocket Returns. I'd like to think they haven't forgotten that the characters returned in Generation III somehow and used them to recreate the TR Admins in HGSS. Furthermore, A&A is very different from J&J, which are not only the two most rememberable Generation I TR members, but they also have Meowth who doesn't have a parallel (even if we accept that his game counterpart is a bit different from his anime one anyway).
By the way, I just back from vacations (hence the late reply :p). I have to say that the experience of carrying a 3DS on big cities like Barcelona truly shows the righteous vanguard of the console: its social aspects. I live in the country, so, StreetPass isn't exactly hot here (or even in the bigger city where I study -- but I guess I'll learn that after summer); but there? Fantastic. In 8 days, I got an average of 4 StreetPass hits per day, and bare in mind that on a lot of time, I was on a bus (especially the first and last day). A lot of people are using their 3DS on the way intended, and the application of this behavior on a Pokémon game will be unparalleled.

I didn't get to use those features on C-Gear, because there wasn't enough motivation in carrying a DS with me (let alone leaving it open and accepting Game Freak having overlooked the fact that the game's clock still counts even when you have the lid closed if C-Gear is turned on) -- and even when I would, other people wouldn't. But now that everything is set to just work even if the game is not on the 3DS, I think C-Gear's successor will be amazing.
