  • The gameplay really. It just has a very addictive quality to it even though the sRPG part is downplayed. I definitely would not mind to see a remake/sequel (not really sure how a sequel works out with this) with more refined game mechanics. The story is just very loosely stitched together, and the main campaign probably has less than 5 minutes of cut-scenes and dialogue to explain what's going on. When you get right down to it, its just a really long (but enjoyable, though hardly the 20 hours they promised) tutorial.

The way the character acts themselves is also a bit of the fun, as well as learning about their historical counterparts (though that part isn't really something you get from the games)
It doesn't seem like there's a story. There's barely even a story in the main campaign.

I'm just going with the theory now that there are multiple Arceus, one of them responsible for creating the main series and doesn't really interact with the world, and another one that created Ransei, and is a bit sadistic by spreading some story about it that lead to Ransei being plunged into perpetual war.
Well, its not like Game Freak puts too much thought into it between generations either apart from putting references in.
Pokemon Conquest is going to be a hard act to follow. It really is one of the best spin-offs to come along in a really long time.

I know you thought Warlord transformations is silly (and how they handled it really is, especially with everyone noting "you look different") but the whole notion of Pokemon drawing power from its bond with trainers seems closer to anything the main series has been able to communicate about Pokemon and humans living together.

And the gameplay itself is just really interesting. I doubt I'd be interested in any new announcement unless it was a console RPG.
Ah, so it was Corocoro. I wouldn't have believed it either. I thought it may have been one of those quiz books that explicitly stated Flint and Buck's relation. Either way, he was strong enough to at least meet the qualifications to fight the Elite 4.
Pokemon White Walkthrough 36 - Opelucid City - YouTube

There's a lot of irony in this line given how Iris winds up Champion. Drayden says he made a promise to Alder, going on to say the PC must win the Opelucid gym badge.

Then he turns to Iris and goes "you go battle him lol"

It may actually suggest that White version Iris is weaker.
I was wondering the same thing... I think I do remember some Tajiri "sightings" in DP era too. A photo of him playing with a DS lite, I think? And then also a couple interviews he's been in. The last mention I remember was in Sugimori's Twitter during the 2011 disaster in Japan.

It's a bit strange to be honest. He's the president and CEO of Game Freak, yet he hasn't been in an Iwata Asks session. Franchise creators, company presidents and CEOs are very often in Iwata Asks. We've seen quite a few people from Game Freak and the Pokémon Company too. I guess he may not like like publicity.
You know what i always found bizarre about fandom. They often like to call out Johto on being "nothing but fillers", but in reality only 65 out of 158 Johto episodes were of no importance whatsoever. Still big number, but this saga had much more to it. Oh well.
Considering that I haven't played B2W2 yet, my stance hasn't really changed -- well, besides the fact that now we know it doesn't appear there...

But I don't think that the fact that it's not mysterious is to consider that much. Even if it was, the main attraction of such event would still be something else; seeing the Original Dragon that the Unova Legends speak of -- a Pokémon we've heard so much about, but never saw. What special abilities could it have? How would it look? How strong would it be?

And I think that it's a fair bet that in the event of the recreation of the Original Dragon, the world would somehow be affected. Be it something like the Mystri Stage event or something else altogether, its presence would likely lead to something big. For one thing, the multiverse theory could as well be it. Maybe the two worlds wouldn't "merge", but the event could be set so that the location where it occured would link them somehow. Perhaps from one side would be Hilbert/whoever-they-want with one world's Reshiram and from the other Hilda/someone-else with the other world's Zekrom; and on the event of the creation of the Original Dragon the two would (temporarily?) meet.

This is wishful thinking, of course. I know that we'll probably not see that happen any time soon. For what it's worth, I wouldn't like an underplayed version of such event in an unrelated game; we didn't spend so much time with the Unova characters to see such an event be committed by heroes with other business.
it is just incredibly incredibly detailed, with full team lists, including all world champion teams and rematches, detailed pokemon lists, on and on. items lists too. i scanned the only concept art they gave us tho :(
Where the Dragon Village is, isn't stated, but B1W1 imply it's on the same landmass as Unova by saying she's from out in the country. When Fuuro mentions she flies to Sinnoh, she uses words to imply it's even farther away than Iris describing the Dragon Village.
This is the Memory Link quote mentioned:
Apparently Cheren's team in BW2 is goofed up, giving him the wrong monkey (consistent to Hugh's monkey). Too bad I doubt anyone would bother asking them about this oversight during their Q/A. It would be funny to see what they say.
1: A checklist, the 'recommended route of progression'. Page shown covers from Hiougi until you head to Hiun.
2: Pages showing detailed walkthroughs, for Sangi Farm and Route 11. The Route 11 page confirms that the Breeder rebattles aren't a bug.
3: (left) Page showing detailed walkthroughs, for Seigaiha City Gym. Includes strategies and an image of the Gym Leader. (right) Page 314, the first page to cover the post-game, states that the post-game content covers over 100 pages, and all the mysteries of the Undersea Ruins are fully revealed within.
4: (left) Page 428, showing how to raise Pokemon levels. (right) Part of the New Isshu Dex, showing the easiest way to obtain each of the 300 Pokemon obtainable in B2W2. Also includes where Pokemon can be found in the original B1W1.
    5: Pokewood.
6: PWT. Shows all the opponents and their weaknesses.
7: Battle Subway, the ferris wheel opponents and the Forgotten Item Subquest, Musicals, and the Characters Chapter. Includes good-quality pictures of the entire cast of B2W2 along their most memorable lines.
8: (left) The Pokemon Trainer's Manual, showing how you catch Pokemon, shiny Pokemon, and Star Pokemon. (right) Data, showing lists of moves, items, medals, and lists of weaknesses.
9: An advert for part 2, the Pokedex.

So, I guess it doesn't start from post-game... what. :| Also you were right, the Characters Chapter is more than concept art, it seems there's official arts too.
They look fine in the correct enviroment, indeed. I've no idea why that person chose the space background. The Smash Bros. picture is surprisingly good. Shame that Zoroark is more likely to be introduced than Mewtwo to return.
The term used in Japanese, 設定資料, though it translates roughly to design materials, in practice usually refers to concept art.

I guess it's because there's no need to do all the extra preparation, such as find a Pokemon Centre, save, enter the Union Room, wait for the opponent to appear, find them, talk to them, wait for their response, ask for a battle, wait for their response, etc before the battle can actually begin.
So one page got scanned at least. I can't fully read the text but it seems there's nothing like on the B1W1 Ghetsis image. Given that they put five pages on one it doesn't seem like the Characters Chapter will be too long either... It also states there will be more design materials released, the Pokemon Chapter in the National Pokedex guide, and the Scenery Chapter in the booklet of the soundtrack.

By the way, anything doable over wireless is doable over infrared. When something Gen V uses infrared to do something, it really only uses infrared communication to find and identify the other game, then continues using local Wi-Fi. (Otherwise, infrared battles, trades, etc would require you to keep holding the carts very still in a straight line to each other, and the battery drain would be a lot larger)
I may have played the first one on PS1 a bit, but not very much. I kind of think of playing the Wii remake at some point, as it does seem very fun. I'm aware of the ShiftyLook project. I must say that it's one of the nicest, well, minor/unlikely projects I've seen in the game industry lately. I'm also hoping for the return of a favourite game I played as a kid, namely Talmit's Adventure, although that's much more unlikely than Klonoa. By the way, Quinty was also published by Namco; I think they have the rights to the series. (This game has many unexplored Pokémon themes included, and it's actually pretty fun!)

Good to see that they're taking the Klonoa comic as seriously as they can though! Unfortunately, these are as low-budget as possible, hence why they take so long. They also apparently prepare some (not necessarily, but assumably) browser/smartphone games based on those properties. Maybe there will be a Klonoa game in one form or another.

Speaking of which... Reading both Japanese and Western comics, let me say something: Westerner writers give much more effort to continuity than Japanese ones. I've seen so few Japanese media remotely trying to tie to their source material... Just see all the rough adaptations in the Pokémon series, when there's not a single canon one, bar pehaps Sugimori's (and maybe How I became a Pokémon Card in some quantity). In contrast, western comics that are based on popular media franchises adapt stories in fewer cases than and they extend them.

I was thinking what would become if a western author somehow managed to get the Pokémon license for a comic. It would probably end up an Archie-like case of an adaptation -- hopefully not a monstrosity like Sonic. What if they even took Game Freak's blessings...
I actually thought of playing Shadow of Memories, but unfortunately I forgot to bring it with me in my hometown. :(
And while I could as well download it, I currently don't run Windows on any available computer.
I wonder: what will I play first, the Abyssal Ruins event, or Shadow of Memories? :p

That kind of thinking (regarding DLC) is disappointingly unprogressive. In technology, there aren't things that can be done and things that can't be done. You simply decide on what you want to do, and you do it. It's exactly as you say it, and the Berry glitch fix is an extremely accurate example of what would be done most likely. Once communication between two peers is established, each would automatically check if certain data is exclusive to any of the two; if not, it would make it so that there isn't.

Moreover, I bet this function won't even have to be used all that much. They may have players manually download the story events of any DLC Pokémon that has one and probably even charge for them, but the data of each additional Pokémon will logically be downloaded automatically via SpotPass, with players potentially not even realizing that (unless they want players to realize it). Even younger players who aren't that much in common with Wi-Fi and SpotPass could have the data stealthly downloaded in their game via StreetPass. Of course, this will only happen in Japan, because elsewhere you'll hardly find one StreetPass instance a month. But even for those players, the Berry glitch fix - like method will take care of things.
