  • I thought Movie 3 depicted Unown quite interestingly, although part of what it made them to be (the movie's villain) was a bit inquisitive. They didn't actually feel like a villain; to me, they seemed to act very instinctively -- as if they don't have absolute control of what they do, they just do it, somehow. But how things got out of control is a good question.

Was Hale intrusive? So, the Unown didn't want to make their role known to the world? And he mysteriously disappeared in his attempts unveal those secrets? Yup, I see an obvious similarity with someone.

I also just realized how Dr. Fuji and Prof. Silktree are quite comparable characters. We may not know much about the latter, but it's quite obvious that his motivation was curiosity; Dr. Fuji on the other hand was led by the lust to walk on new grounds. Both were obsessed enough to cross lines, and a questionable outcome apparently occured to both. I hadn't thought about this before...

Sharpening keen senses of wild animals?
Actually, if you think about it...
I don't have it at hand, no, but it's likely that that *is* the Japanese version of the report. 'UNKNOWN' being all-caps and not being spelt as Unown suggests to me it is.
If 4Kids had added it, it's likely the English wouldn't have been so incomprehensible either.
This is why Engrish is bad -- someone in Japan puts probably perfectly readable Japanese through a machine translator and assumes it's come out as perfectly readable English, and presumably nobody there knows enough English to tell, so we end up with perfectly unreadable Engrish. :\ "just to feel with keen sense" what.

At least, the lost tracks disk only has Giratina and Rayquaza on it. And the Yellow/Crystal lost tracks will stay forever lost...
It's not mentioned why they're there. Nor why the Sound Designer is there either, which is odder.
It's a female Ranger, so I presume they're married to each other.
    Somehow I missed the second half of your VM >.>;;
    I went into winter and looked, and what is with that place and old Teams o.o;
The Team Rocket grunt is gone, and instead there are three people there:
Yup, Pansage. There's a trainer in Kanawa who got separated from their Yanape. You eventually find it in Raimon where it runs off. When you go back to Kanawa, it's there with its trainer, who says 'My Yanape wants to be a train conductor! Huh? How do I know? A man with Green Hair told me! But that man... could he speak to Pokemon?'
It seems they're other NPC lines in the same area. I wonder if it's another 'N reunites a Pokemon with its trainer' event like the Yanape one.
Munchlax, Bonsly and Manaphy are exactly what you'd call elements (and bonuses for themselves too :p). Especially Manaphy, which was a Gen IV Pokémon you technically obtained before even getting Diamond or Pearl. If they went any further than that, they might as well have crossed the line. :p

In any case, that's what I meant. Manaphy's Ranger story is the only (relatively concrete) story we ever had out of it, and I think they intended for it to be its story, regardless to how Ranger went downhill after that. I'm saying that Genesect's story could be told in that game, and its ancient form's one could potentially be preluded. Let alone an illusory Pokémon appearing in the game, maybe that's not necessary.
Wouldn't it be cool if PWT cameo'd future-gen trainers? - Blogs - Bulbagarden Forums

The random trainers in PWT are at least an interesting encounter, especially if I am correctly recalling the context of this particular image of a real-life Thatcher crying. I really hope Game Freak at least thinks to cameo these trainers in the future. Sure, they probably don't have unique sprites, but neither did "Charine"
So Genesect was "awakened" by Plasma? I wonder if that's just more awkward wording or if Genesect's original form is actually legendary (though a legendary more similar to Heatran when you think about it)
All I'm saying is that distributions are incredibly easy to initiate, and they probably don't overthink about it. Of course, the spin-off doesn't have to be about Genesect; but if it will be announced and released between the time Genesect is revealed and the time it stars in the next movie, then it obviously has a lot of chances. Of course, that is just one part of what the game would be about. It will very much likely have Generation VI elements, which may also be present on M16.

And indeed, a Genesect ancient form would logically be a separate species, much like Mew/Mewtwo. In fact, that may even be the Generation VI element the game needs, although it would make it hard to find a prey-turned-redeemer-esque character then (for the Movie). But who knows? Maybe M16 will feature two of them -- Genesect's ancient form, and the illusory Pokémon of the Generation.

Effectively, in the spin-off/side game we'd see the current Genesect's story, and we'd obtain an item that would lead us to the illusory Pokémon of the Gen VI main game. Then, the movie could well be about Genesect, the said illusory Pokémon and Genesect's ancient form. Finally, we'll get to catch the illusory Pokémon in Gen VI, and meet Genesect's ancient form upon transferring the movie/spin-off Genesect there.

Or maybe the illusory Pokémon is completely unneeded and all we need is a non-Legendary Pokémon on the hero's role, which doesn't even have to appear in the spin-off. (So, the spin-off would only function on unlocking Genesect's ancient form.)
Well, it doesn't really matter whether they distribute Genesect now or later. They get done with it for the time being, and the next game may or may not provide an alternate way to obtain it, like what happened with Darkrai in Ranger 2. At the same time, the said game will feature elements from Generation VI, and perhaps a present Pokémon (again, not necessarily time exclusive to the game, but maybe with a special trait). I'm not suggesting it would be a Ranger game. It could be an RPG, a new gameplay genre game/mini-series, or pretty much anything else.
Mewtwo's Unnerve ability is probably related to its personality more like anything else. Its Japanese name is 'Tension', so, much like 'Pressure', this is how Mewtwo makes its opponent Pokémon feel. But yeah, plot-wise it doesn't make sense, since there is only one Mewtwo. I guess it's not very different from the Shiny Legendaries. Pokémon Conquest showed wonderfully how shiny Legendaries can be used in Pokémon media, even if they can't appear in the main Pokémon canon. Maybe a future Mewtwo from another canon that will be transferable to the game will carry the Unnerve ability.

So, once again, an event Pokémon will be distributed directly, and a year before its debut movie. That says a lot on what Generaton we'll be talking about next year this time, but I'm still curious about what this could mean for a spinoff. Maybe something like Ranger: The Road to Diamond & Pearl will happen.

The M16's "villainous" Pokémon will obviously be Genesect. Could its opponent be the Mew/Celebi/Jirachi/Manaphy/Victini of the Generation? Both Manaphy and Victiny were readily available when their respective Generation debutted. Manaphy from Ranger and Victini through a downloadable event. So, perhaps the incoming spinoff will feature Genesect's story and offer the first hidden Legendary as a present. (Do note that Ranger also had a Deoxys event as well.)
While I agree with the first part, I don't really see the anime's fast pace as being a direct result. Perhaps a result of Game Freak yielding to the pressure, but it doesn't explain why the pacing is still irregular to the point that the Unova League would be ending before the year's over without any real solid game material outside of the World Tournament.
Wait, people think Game Freak is going to be pressured by Nintendo, because their half-hour advertisement is running out of plot?
I agree with whole idea because it sounds most logical and plausible way to do. I too hope they will in case of more cups being made, make future competitions different than Junior Cup was with several mini tournaments making together world championship of some sort. Not sure what will writers in reality do, but there is obviously going to be something else after Unova league, and maybe some other older faces return than too. Accent on maybe.

But in any case, i really like your idea and it surprises me why there aren't more people like you around here which are creative, but realistic at same time too using, instead of using only one opinion as right answer to go by.
About May i meant, whenever there is talk about RS remakes showing how un objective people can be when it comes to promotion with only selected characters having chance to return in that case.

About everything else, thanks for clearing that up from me. I also think expansion on world tournament after league is most plausible way to go with and reuse some of older characters, because in reality there is nothing else on table from game side for writers to use. Though most people don't buy that thinking how writers might do something anime exclusive, but even than since it wouldn't be focused on promotion so much older characters can still return. Of course as long its not Misty, with majority being extremely negative about this character(more than they are even about Max). Honestly ill never understand why, but whatever.
Wow, I hadn't caught the Cerulean Cave part about the research team. That makes me wonder why they were looking for the Legendary Birds... I'm sure that Fuji wasn't interested in them at all. Unless he wanted to creat Zapmocuno through bioengineering. I'm not sure if this is accurate (probably not), but according to Bulbapedia "Mewtwo had escaped the Pokémon Mansion only recently". I don't see anything of that sort in the journal entries, but had that been true, that also means the research team also checked on the cave only recently, RGBY time-wise.

In any case, even if that isn't true, it does gets one point accross. If the research team went to the Cerulean Cave, that must mean that they had activities even after Dr. Fuji left them. So, from them until now, the surviving members must have done something. I think it would be even more interesting if the team dissolved when they encountered Mewtwo, because it must have not been a nice event. So, the said spin-off's/console game's setting could be the struggle of one of the members of the team who survived that event to uncover the truth about Mewtwo, years after their encounter in the Cerulean Cave.

That setting has a lot of potential, because it would not only explain the past events, but also many intermediate ones. For example, we might learn more about Red's association with Mewtwo, and how exactly the Cerulean Cave collapsed (we do suspect the reason, of course). Was Team Rocket or Giovanni involved with Mewtwo at all? How and why was the Cerulean Cave rebuilt? What's with the Unnerve ability pretty much one of the most random choices Game Freak ever did for an ability?
I agree about the player character, but at least they would appear in the game... Now I'm worried that this way of hero references might become the norm. After the last years' vague references to Lucas/Dawn from the Cynthia (and Brandan/May from Steven, if I recall correctly), they turn out to go with referring to the hero through the player's own name, and not having them appear at all. My only solace is that at least Hilbert and Hilda do have a role outside the Memory Link, albeit it being transparent. They were looking for N in that faraway region, I think? That's kind of the way they used to refer to Red in cases, but Red did get a name and appeared in the end too. Though, we should note that originally they planned on having Red and Blue be nameable in PM2, isn't that right? Still, that would be much better. Having two characters in my game be called Ash/AP is super-awkward.

The Memory Link is a great feature in pretty much everything else (and solves problems like the starter Pokémon dillema), but I wish they had went with Hilbert/Hilda as the names. Since the Memory Link may not return for unrelated games, I'm afraid we might not be seeing references to heroes unless in sequels... I mean, if they can't decide on something as basic as the name... :p

Sucks that Vito has an NPC-esque line (very ironic that the coincidence keeps on going, and it refers to money though). I'm still hopying at least some of them will have a more substantial thing to say (as substantial as a one-line-introduction can get)... There are over 10 of them, so, who knows? I agree that type-expert battling is a bit boring, of course. I think the only way to make it sort of interesting is use the same type yourself, or a disadvantageous type.
Hi, since your highly knowledgeable about games and advertizing and how things work i was wandering if you could give me answer about this. It seems in that thread "how will second BW season be structured" in anime section several members are claiming how there wont be anything after Junior Cup being enough for promotion of world tournament, let alone bring back any past gym leaders because they aren't relevant enough to bring them back. Funny how they adamantly defend May chances to be used for RS remakes acting like her return is 100% sure to happen, but when it comes to Misty or Brock thy say it definitely wont happen. Talking about bias.

According to their predictions after Unova league ends there wont be any filler arc like BF was either with BW lasting only for 3 years with 6th generation coming out next year. Some of them told me how already in March or art latest April of next year BW series will end completely with Gamefreak being pressured by Nintendo to create next gen as soon as possible.

    Was this confirmed?
